just wondering what you guys think of the stanton c.314
im thinking about getting two of them instead of the cdj 200 cause it has more features, i like how u can cue up the record like vinyl (since that's all i know) and the 200 doesn't seem to have many featurs and looks rather bland, but really all i see you guys saying is get CDJ 200, but no reason why, so please convince me and or tell me if the 314 is better

c.314's from all that I've heard are disappointing. Mainly their supposed vinyl emulation. There's been numerous complaints about how "it sounds the same for every track" and that it feels overall clunky and rushed in comparison with even Denons. I'd go for Pioneers any day of the week since they're industry standard, easy to pick up, and fun to play on. The other cdjs I've tried don't come close.

I tried to start cheap with my setup and now I just have to deal with headaches and except that i wasted more money then if I had got decent equipment to start with.

I got 2 Numark Axis 4's and a numark 1050 mixer. The axis 4's are absolutly terrible. After having them for about 30 days one of them freezes and crashes all the time which I didn't even think possible for a device like that. This is the major one of my frustrations but theres a ton more.

Anyway, moral of the story, get decent equipment from the get-go, the extra money will be worth it.

thats what everyone says, but i dunno.I gotmyself some stanton t.60 TT's and they are considered cheap but the pitch blend worx perfectly, and so does everything else. Torque is bad, but nothing that some wax paper can't fix.

I use a Numark dual player, a CDN88, it was about 300 quid ($600usd or so) and apart from looking as dual decks do, it's actually very good. Only downside is the 0.1% pitch increment, so you have to get it as close as you can then use the jog wheel a fair bit. Then I use a numark dxm01 mixer, which is just a good and sturdy no frills 2 channel jobbie. So all in all I'd say thats about 400 pounds/800 dollars.

2x Pioneer cdj 200's
1x Numark DXM 06

if you're spinning cds.

all if I know about vinyl.

+1

this is the best starter setup imo. the bare minimum... if you can't afford this setup, i reccomend saving up for it.

Hey.Im planning to get some gear.
Cdj 200s and a Numark 500FX mixer.
Im a bedroom Dj and mostly play progressive/trance.

I also have an option to get the Cdj800mk2,but for that il need to ditch the Djm 400 and get a cheaper mixer and also ill have to sell my Behringer BCD3000 Midi controller.and also ill have to postpone my plans of getting a vinyl deck.

So i was wondering what is a better setup

CDJ800mk2 + some cheap mixer.

or

Cdj200+Numrk 500FX+bcd3000+stanton turntable.

Please advice me on what setup should i go for.

Thanks
Max Thomson
I guess the cheapest "setting" is a pirated copy of traktor and some mp3s off limewire!

but that would be shameful

Where does the DJM-400 fit in?

I have 800's, and they're pretty nice. The only main difference you have with the 800 is the larger platter and vinyl emulation. Since you're spinning progressive/trance, you could get by with the 200's just fine. The 200's also have 0.02% pitch steps (when playing audio CDs), and have some built-in effects. They also have that nice blue glow. =)

I think 200's + good mixer (DJM-400 is pretty good, I suppose) is a solid start. You can always expand later on.

Plus, it's good to get some skill first then expand onto more equipment. Also, a bad mixer will still make good decks sound bad, so keep that in mind.

Thanks for the reply mate.
The thing is that i want to buy a 3-4 channel mixer ,and since the Djm400 is a 2 channel mixer,it doesnt interest me.

What good 3-4 channel mixer could i get for the price of a DJM400?

so I just wanted to continue this post, instead of making a totally new one, seeing as some people may find it annoying having xx different posts about the subject.

So Im as new to DJing as an elephant is to swimming. Which means literally translated I have no idea. So If any of you guys could tell me f.ex. what CDJ means and what kind of equipment you would recommend for someone who never even touched a vinyl, that would be great!

Alright, cheers,
coreano
