LCD is not better.

Maybe better in Reliability, but not the color.

Plasma colors are way better than LCD's

lol kris - good idea though hahah make a thread about it

like i was saying earlier on
plasma's will give you a rich in color image but it's life expectancy is really short 2-3years at max before you'll notice ghosting or burn in.

lcd might lack a bit in image quality but you are definitely getting 5 years out of it.

The trade off is simple, LCD is the better way to go hands down. Why? There is virtually no difference when you see an HD channel in LCD or Plasma. Most of the time it's the signal of the channel that determines the quality of the picture. I said QUALITY not HUE! Hue is your color range, most noticably when you look at skin tones on TV. That's a good way to gauge what manufacturer has what type of quality in PICTURE COLOR.

Next criteria after hue is of course plasma or lcd...of course I'm biased I have an LCD and I say go LCD. =)

Christina and I just bought this one on sale ($1650) from Amazon with free shipping - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...glance&n=172282

5 were available when I bought it 20 minutes ago, now only 2, but J&R also had some, but you'll have to pay tax.

the color in plasma is so nice.
avikonen
NICE! I will have to bring some movies over ;)

IMHO, go with LCD. LCD technology is here to stay and is getting better every year. I'm waiting till the holidays before I splurge ;)

Just at a quick glance, the major thing I noticed was that the contrast of the Toshiba is only 800:1. The Samsung we got is 3000:1

Specs on the Toshiba - http://www.overstock.com/sm-toshiba...9_ti-82124.html

burn ins on the new plasmas are very rare. But just so you dont get burn-ins make sure that you have picture that is in action playing on the tv for about the first 1500hrs...by then it will be broken in.
