You are probably right.....his Marketing team and PR guys know what is best for him.....this only makes him look good to his fans...who will more then likely vote for him anyways, regardless of what he says.

I didn't take it like that.. as he says, this is just his personal top 5. The message is to vote for new talent in general..

I would expect him to say vote for me.....its not shameless self promotion at all......every DJ wants fans to vote for him.....I believe he is being honest in that winning the top DJ award will do nothing to further his career and I believe he would like to see up and coming DJs be recognized. We all know that any up and coming DJ is only going to get a 4th or 5th place vote and that DJs in the top 20-30 from last year will get number 1 votes.
I also believe that Tiesto wouldn't have made the comments if his Marketing and PR team didn't approve of it.....as with any big name DJ I am sure his agent has everything pass by him before approval is given.
I respect him for coming out and saying what he did but I also believe there are other motives at stake then just trying to be a nice guy.

why not just say, yeah dont vote for me and vote for some new talent, why mentioning dj's he voted for? pure promotion..

Hi Everybody,
I just finished my gig in Las Vegas half an hour ago. I had an epic weekend with four great shows. I spent a couple of days in Tahoe, went to Austin Texas, a festival in Chicago and the Global festival at the Palms hotel in Vegas.
Every night I went out with the promoter of the city I was in and most of them where bringing up the DJ Magazine top 100 voting. It's a big thing for most of the promoters and most of them will book DJ's that are high on this list.
That made me think, because if that's the case the voting is important. Especially to breed new talent.
There are so many new great young DJ's out there that I feel it's time to give them a chance. I appreciate all the love and support I get from all over the world but I won this award three times so if I would win it a fourth time, it wouldn't make a difference for my career.
For the new talented DJ's around the world it could make a difference, so I would like to ask all the people who support me to vote for new talent.
Don't vote for me, vote for the new breed!

2.Sander van Doorn
3.Serge Devant
4.Blake Jarrell
5.Richard Durand
