I believe in good intentions in this case + trying to keep the good face in the event of him not getting #1 spot. I think though this year it's gonna be Armin who'll take #1.

Tiesto has reached the peak in EDM music industry, I don't think you can go any higher to what he has done although time will tell. He has went above and beyond all expectations. For him to come out and say what he said is a good thing for EDM in general because if he was voted #1 again, it would not be good for bringing in new fans into the industry. It's the local new talent that brings people into this industry, and Sander Van Doorn is a prime example of this. How many people heard of SVD a few years back, even last year, not so many I'd think, but in a month I would imagine the guv/koolhaus to be packed because word of mouth spreads fast and I would also imagine that a lot of newer people into this scene would show up as well. If it was all about Tiesto, Tiesto, Tiesto, people would start to lose interest and I'm sure it already has happened.

As far as Tiesto's choices, Eddie reminds me of Tiesto himself in a way and he is probably one of the best technical DJ's around, he knows how to throw a party that's for sure! His set at Amnesia for Ferry's LEF launch party blew me away but I was more impressed with his crowd involvement. At the end of his set, he was fighting off security guards so he could jump into the crowd and dance to his last track. When he eventually did, the place went retarded!

Sander Van Doorn is definately one of the best in the business and I had the opportunity to catch him at Dance Valley. After being a fan of his music for a while now, Mr.Purple Haze himself will demolish the guv in a month without any doubts. I think many of us have been waiting for him to come to Toronto for a while now.

Personally it doesn't matter what your top 5 or 10 or anything for that matter is, everyone has their own choices and their fav. dj's. From so much varience in EDM music you cannot simply state who is number 1 and who is not. Tiesto's music differs to that of Erik Morillo or from Carl Cox, hence it's hard to persuade a tranceaddict that Steve Lawler for instance is the best dj in the world.

In the end, Tiesto is Tiesto, and what he has done for this industry, not many can do. His love parade set still keeps me moving!

Hey Vlad.. great post here! I totally agree.

He will still get a ton of votes regardless of what he says... however, it is good for others to come in and gain the exposure that a higher rank in the poll brings them. The followup being that fresh new faces come into the touring circuit thereby keeping the existing EDM crowd happy and allowing new fans to latch onto a new talent rather than falling into the tastes of their peers by default. Give it a few years and new fans that may not have known Tiesto when he was #1 will want to hear him any time he comes around - either because of the legacy he has left through his music/memorable parties or to judge the validity of that for themselves.

:):):)....& LEGACY is key word for moi!!!
I love Tiesto and always will nothin will change my opinion on his s!!! peace :D

I couldn't b live Jenn stayed for his set, I was like "Jenn wtf are you doing here???? Preach is spinning now!!"

Jenn didn't say anything. she just kept on moving her feet.

i'm suppose to be done with guvy for a while with school/work piling up but SVD might be bringing me back come october :D

And Nada, just cuz you've seen Armin 28 times this year alone, doesn't mean he will be number one....on the second though...he will.

no no, I missed Preach for Danny Tenaglia on the Friday but he was playing a B2B so I was ok with missing him. I would NEVER miss Preach for trance dude :p Especially on that Saturday :) I missed part of Max Graham and Danny Howells for Sander on the Saturday :D

But SvD is good.. I cannot wait for 10yr just for him :toothless
