I was visiting NYC this weekend and I just had cart food from 6th avenue and 53rd street which is an institution...not once when I drove past there did I not see a loooong lineup and I just went tonight and enjoyed the most amazing mixed lamb and chicken rice platter EVAR. Got a chicken sandwich for the wife and that was amazing too. Their sauce is awesome, but hot sauce is way more potent than I've ever had...go easy on it.

Also in this trip (NYC):
- Katz's Deli - delicious pastrami sandwich
- Carnegie Deli - also very good pastrami sandwich
- Halal Food Cart at 53rd st & 6th ave
- Max Brenner - dessert/chocolatier

San Juan, Puerto Rico
- can't remember the name of this Japanese resto, right near the Intercontinental San Juan Resort (absolutely amazing--another recommendation thread required here)...there was a jap resto right at the hotel and another one closer to the hotel, but this specific one was absolutely the best salmon teriyaki and FRESHEST sushi I've EVER had...nothing but young crowd, terrible service, jam packed (while both other restos were empty) and the music was the latest house and trance!!! EDM!!! wtf. Chinese waitress kept speaking to me in Spanish, lol, even when I ordered in English.

DC:
- Ben's Chili Bowl
- Zenga's - Asian modern
- Grill Kabob - Afghan chain--halal!
- more to be added...

Toronto:
- St. Louis' Bar & Grill (Yonge & Eglinton = best location) - WINGS.
- Montreal Deli (Richmond Hill) - reuben sandwich
- Bamiyon Kabob - Afghan--halal!
- North (Richmond Hill) - Persian
- Lahore Tikka House (Gerrard St) - Pakistani/Indian--halal!
- Johnny's Burger (Scarborough)
- The Host - Indian cuisine--halal!
- Lin Garden (Scarborough) Chinese--halal!
- Korean BBQ (Richmond Hill @ East Beaver Creek)
- Salad King (near Ryerson/Eaton Centre downtown) - cheap, student-level thai

Montreal:
- SCHWARTZ'S DELI (rue St. Laurent) - best smoked meat sandwich on the PLANET.
- Basha - (Lebanese chain, best location: St. Catherine, above Sports Expert and across from a movie theatre)
- Rockaberry (rue St. Denis) - desserts
- L'Academie (rue St. Denis)- italian, well-priced, casual dress to an elegant place
- Weinstein & Gavino's (rue Crescent) - italian, pricey, very casual look (never made sense, but very tasty)
- (Chez) Cora's Restaurant - breakfast (also opened in Toronto, but MTL is better)
- Eggspectation - breakfast (also opened in Toronto, but MTL is better)

Paris:
- Angelina's (cafe/chocolatier) - must try their chocolat africain
- more when i jog my memory

ps. halal = Muslim/Jew friendly meat

I'm incredibly disturbed by how close you were to me this weekend. I ate at the Halal food cart twice, because it is awesome.

I can't believe you suckers in the US don't have Nandos. It's so good. It's not Portuguese though, it was started in South Africa.

You serious, Alon? That was the worst Japanese food I've ever had in my whole life... and I like bad food! :p

I don't think it's supposed to be japanese food as such, to be honest. It's just a mish mash of random fast far eastern food, streamlined down to western chain restaurant format.

As long as you just go there for a quick bowl of ramen, it does the job quite well, I think. There isn't much you can do to up a bowl of ramen, after all, but like any chain restaurant, results vary by branch (the one in Guildford has been the best I've been to so far). It's also a tad pricey considering how much of an assembly line-ish kitchen they're running.
Scoops
Surf Taco...

there is only 8 of em around the Jersey Shore

lol awesome! Would have been cool to chill in the line, everyone's so friendly in the line. Are u in NYC longer? I'm going back to dc today.

Re nandos, so many of my friends swear by it. There's actually a location in dc although I'm not suere if it's the same chain, I'm sure it is. Won't know bc I don't really like it.

^cool! Also, if there are restaurants that anyone liked during their travels, those would be good to hear about too.

I'm interested in hearing more about Spain, London, Australia, and in the US, Vegas, Florida (Miami), etc.

Let's share some info, people.

Taco Johns > Taco Bell

Also, for those of you who don't yet have a Culver's in your state, you're thoroughly missing out.

in and out burger, del taco ftw

I've heard of both those chains, saw pics of in and out burger.. looks crazy delicious. Don't they pour this bacon sauce on the fries or something?

I've heard there's a bunch of awesome taco joints in Cali.
