I can't believe you suckers in the US don't have Nandos. It's so good. It's not Portuguese though, it was started in South Africa. |
I was lucky to have it when I was in London in December. We really need one here in NYC  |

Locally...
Tetsuya's is one of the best, service is very slow though on Fri-Sat nights because they're always full. Its a hybrid of French and Japanese cooking and done very cleverly
Aria in town is a little bit over-rated gourmet restaurant in town that can be hard to get a booking, food is A+ if somewhat scarce and expensive. I mostly rate it for the desserts :p
Rockpool is awesome to the point you'll want to try everything on the menu (seafood mostly)
L'Incontro Italian restaurant on the north shore is a favourite of my partner, excellent service and food.
Khaosan in Nth Sydney is an awesome Thai restaurant, interior is kind of slightly cheesy, service could best be described as 'well meaning & trying hard' but the food is awesome. |

I was visiting NYC this weekend and I just had cart food from 6th avenue and 53rd street which is an institution...not once when I drove past there did I not see a loooong lineup and I just went tonight and enjoyed the most amazing mixed lamb and chicken rice platter EVAR. Got a chicken sandwich for the wife and that was amazing too. Their sauce is awesome, but hot sauce is way more potent than I've ever had...go easy on it.
Also in this trip (NYC):
- Katz's Deli - delicious pastrami sandwich
- Carnegie Deli - also very good pastrami sandwich
- Halal Food Cart at 53rd st & 6th ave
- Max Brenner - dessert/chocolatier
|
I'd add the following to the list for NYC:
Manhattan:
-Artichoke Pizza on 14th between 1st and 2nd ave
-Grimaldi's in Brooklyn - next to the Brooklyn Bridge
-Arepa Lady in jackson heights (betwen 78th and 79th streets on Roosevelt)...she only operates during seasonable weather during the weekends from 10 PM - 5 AM
-Kwik Meals is another good halal meat and rice cart (45th and 6th ave)
Montreal:
how do you not have Fairmount or St. Viateur bagels on the list? Montreal has wonderful bagels (yes, even better than NYC  :p) |

damn I wish I had this list before I went! Next time.
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of MTL bagels, believe it or not; I know, blasphemy! There's something about them, like a lack of salt or something. My best friend was obsessed and always brought some back to Toronto whenever he went; I'd just visit him for the Schwartz's :D |

You're hardly in the COR (except to permaban people for "drunk" threads) and the one thread you feel the need to post in is this one... incredible. |

If you ever visit Brazil, go to Habib's, it's an Arab Brazilian fast food chain :)
You serious, Alon? That was the worst Japanese food I've ever had in my whole life... and I like bad food! :p |
Brazil would have to take the gong for worst fast food in the world, surely?
Habibs: terrible. Bob's: terrible. Giraffes: completely inedible. |
