those friggin cats had it made, i swear. it was so sad because we started out with 4, and all of them had issues...i was at the ER vet like every other night with one of them. they were literally cutting me deals with all of the expenses, like waiving the office visits and stuff.

only 2 survived:( i'd wake up every hour on the hour to their meowing and feed them from a bottle, half asleep. i swear it was like having a new born. and then in the morning one of them would be dead and the others would be sitting there meowing their heads off. it was so sad. i went through a state of depression after all that bull. lol

:(

how old were they when you took them in?

i've only had Sasha for 4 days and i'd die if anything happened to her! it's amazing how important you feel when you're taking care of a baby animal. it's very obvious that she considers me her "mommy" and it just makes me melt. i can't do anything at home now without her being right there next to me, or on top of me... and i just miss her so much when i'm at work!

i'm almost afraid to give her too much affection because i don't want her to become too dependent on me... but i know she's still a baby so she needs all the lovin' she can handle.

Yea you have to take care of them like that. Don’t worry about giving a cat too much affection. she’ll likely grow out of that in no time and be like, "pshh, i dont need u" lol

I had those kittens for a few weeks…they were too tiny to be away from their mother, but someone found them alone, so I guess the mommy died. They actually would go up to Lex (my dog, who was kind of a puppy himself at the time) and try to nurse him. haha it was so funny. He’d look at me like, “MOM! Wtf! Get these things off me”

It was so cute.

so, my kitty made me sad last night.

right before i laid down to sleep, i started breaking out in hives and got all itchy. i figured it's from the kitten since she insists on being on me (my shoulders, tummy, lap, etc) whenever i'm home. anyway it affected my shoulders, arms, back, tummy, legs, butt... freakin' all over! i was too lazy to take a shower so i put her in the bedroom and fell asleep around 10pm in the living room.

then, at like 1am i wake up and my fingers and hands were all swollen and sore. i couldn't make a tight fist and all my joints were sore and cracky. i got up to wash off my hands with antibacterial soap, and i was going to jump in the shower, but as soon as i stood up i got completely nauseous and dizzy... so i ended up just passing out on the couch.

i've never been allergic to cats before and i've had cats pretty much my entire life. but after a bit of googling, it turns out that kittens cause more allergy symptoms than adult cats do, especially in the spring and fall... and orange cats are apparently the worst!

i feel much better today but i'm so afraid to let her sleep on me 'cause i don't want to experience that again. i tried giving her a little bath this morning with a wet washcloth, and when i take her to the vet tomorrow i'm going to ask them about it.

hopefully this gets resolved so i can snuggle up with my baby! :(

edit // i'm gonna go pick up some kitty wipes after work. i just checked to see if Petco or Petsmart carried anything to help reduce allergy symptoms related to cats and they've got all sorts of wipes that will help with the dander!

yay. :)

oh that sucks! what a disappointment! hopefully you can figure out a way to keep the pussay and not have any problems. best of luck!

i just dropped her off at the Kitty Clinic and the vet assistant said she thinks it's a boy, but won't be sure until the doctor checks her out. she also mentioned how most orange cats are boys. then she told me about a guy she knew in high school named Sasha who was really "manly"... lol.

i'm kinda hoping it's a boy just because i really wanted a boy... and it's also $70 cheaper for the kitty care package (which includes all the exams, shots, spay/neuter, 2-paw declaw, etc) for boy cats. (not that i'd complain about having to pay more if it's a girl... i'd pay insane amounts of money to keep that lil furball around me)

also, my kitty's doctor was the personal veterinarian for the dogs on the TV show Married With Children. :wtf:

Awwww... How did Sasha act when you dropped hum/her off? (god dammit, we need to figure out the sex - I'm tired of confusing the gender of my pronouns!). Did he/she fight you at all? Scared of the vet?

RJT's wanna know... :p

hi RJT! ;) <3

she meowed the entire way to the vet, and was trying really hard to escape her kitty carrier. luckily i had on a good trance set that really calmed her down.

when we got there, she was still crying, but once i set her carrier down on the counter she stopped and just looked curious. they had all sorts of cats wandering around the Kitty Clinic and this one really huge long-haired one jumped up on the counter, rubbed up against me, then jumped on top of Sasha's carrier and just sat there! i think he/she was trying to protect Sasha, but Sasha just got scared and started hissing.

she didn't freak out at all when the vet assistant opened her carrier to let her out and pick her up to check her sex.

i'm proud of my baby... (s)he was brave.
