I think abortion is murder. Going through all of that would only strengthen my opinion.

Also, I didn't really steal a bike. That was just an interesting quote I found. Hehe.
|
Yeah, that quote was interesting... interesting how people can actually believe it. The problem with it is that it is a misinformed quote that makes Christianity look bad. Other people that are misinformed hear people saying this, and suddenly they come to the brilliant conclusion that Christianity is propaganda... when, in reality, it isn't. If you are sorry for stealing a bike, you give it back... if you don't you aren't forgiven. It's that simple. There's no "pretending" to be sorry. Last I checked you couldn't fool God.

And did you just state that "God evolved us"? Where have you been getting your info from?
|
I never said He evolved us, I said it was possible that He did. I get my info from my brain, first of all. This in no way contradicts any part of Christianity, so it seems fine to me. Then I check with the Magisterium. And they teach the same thing. So I get my info from the right places.

That site is bull in your opinion. Just because you say so doesn't make it true. It has a lot of views that conflict with yours, which doesn't surprise me that you oppose it. That's your right.
|
I know I'm right, and I can prove it. Give me some examples and I'll disprove your opinion and that site.

"Suffering brings us close to God"? Yeah, that's an intelligent statement. Because God wants us to go through horrible amounts of pain. He works in mysterious ways. And he loves us. But if we don't love him back, he makes us suffer and burn for all eternity. But he still loves us.
|
God would rather us go through pain on Earth than infinite pain in Hell... in all evil and suffering there is a chance that good will come from it. Many people that are suffering turn towards God, and eternal happiness is their reward. Those that already believe don't turn away. There are still some people who suffer and don't turn to God, but the opportunity was there and it is their choice. Also, don't think you have to believe in God to go to Heaven. You don't have to knowingly "love Him back." You just have to be a good person.

And you don't have to be Ultra-Religous, Atheist, or Ignorant. What you believe is a personnal decision. Being incredibly biased towards one point of view is being ignorant, not debating what to believe in. |
Hold on a second, you lost me there... it is actually debating that led me to believe in God, and I'm doing the same thing now. Of course I'm biased towards my opinion, I believe it! But I am debating it. |

Ahh... another misinformed opinion. There are many convincing arguments! Why do you think I believe? Not cause I'm scared or because I "don't have the guts to come through this life all by... [myself] without someone's constant guideness". I believe because the arguments convinced me.
Go to the library and read some books by Thomas Aquinas. I'd love to see you honestly tell me that you think his proofs of the existence of God hold no ground.
And just in case you don't know who Thomas was, he's one of the smartest men to ever live. |

i personally think that there is a difference between "believe" and "know"... what someone doesn't know (it can't be 100% proved), he believes in. if someone will prove the existence of god, there will be no religion anymore (cuz you cannot believe and know at the same time... it's just one of these). so it really amuzes me when people are trying to find a scientific explanation of what god is. if you believe in him - just believe, if you don't - just don't.
p.s. Thomas Aquinas might be incredibly smart, but that is an exception rather than the rule. for the wast majority, religion is just another excuse of ignorance. |

There are many things that can't be 100% proved... think of a court case. A man can be condemned to life imprisonment as long as the jury believes him to be guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt." (not 100%)

I see your point, but I disagree. Just because you know that God exists doesn't mean that you should forget about religion and not worship Him anymore... in reality its the opposite. If you know He exists, there's even more reason to do His Will.

I'm not trying to find a scientific explanation of God. But there is a scientific explanation of the things that He created... that's why science is so complicated. Look at a strand of DNA... wow.

Yup... that is unfortunately the case. I wouldn't call him an exception though... there are many that believed just like him for reasons just like him... but still, not enough. |

LOL....they are PROOVED guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a prosecuter showing FACTUAL evidence...bad example there.. |

No, you are not PROVEN guilty. If you were proven guilty, there would be absolutely no question that you committed the crime and should be held legally accountable for it. But no one is 100% sure, not all court cases are black and white... why do you think people are given new trials after they are supposedly proven guilty? |

Science and God actually come into direct contradiction with each other. Evolution vs. Creationism is a very nice example.
Also, according to the bible (Christian God Perspective), the Dinosaurs never could have existed. I guess Satan planted huge skeletons of humongous beasts in order to trick us, and lead us away from God. Yeah. Right.
Also, there is no proof that God created anything. That is a debate of once again Evolution vs. Creationism. ]
LOL, I love it. God created DNA :D That's just too much. |

Religion:
If you belief in a creed, and follow it, you are not ignorant.
If you choose to believe in no creed, and learn what can be observed/figured out, you are not ignorant.
If you believe whatever you want to believe and you just believe things you were taught that sound good, you are ignorant.
that is my oppinion. by the way, Michael Russo, I think what you said about Athiests is very true.
But the second type of Atheists are not REAL Atheists. They are just ignorant, and do not know what to believe.
TRUE Atheists, like myself, have concluded that there is no God, and if there is a God of somesorts, it doesn't matter, because he does not conclude in our affairs or judge us.
2) Andrea Yates: she will suffer in jail. justice will be served. For HER sake, however, i would execute her. the rest of her life will be a living hell.
and she will NOT be very confortable in jail, trust me.... she will be in torment. |

I agree with the second part (you just believe things you were taught that sound good), but believing whatever you want to believe is what life is all about. It is a personnal decision, and as long as your a good person, I'm all for freedom of belief.
Black and white are just two sides of the spectrum, there's a whole load of gray in the middle. |

They come into contradiction with each other? According to who? Not me... or, for that matter, the Roman Catholic Church. In my opinion, all of our scientific discoveries reaffirm the necessity of God. Yes, look at a strand of DNA, and tell me that it could have accidentally been made... yeah... some matter flew together, and suddenly we have genetic code? I don't think so.
BTW, Theistic Evolution is taught by the Church... so there's obviously no contradiction there.

Hahaha. Yeah, Satan... he's a funny guy ;)
But really, I don't see what the problem is... why can't dinosaurs exist? Does it contradict some aspect of Christian faith? I don't see how.
Everyone knows the Adam & Eve story is made up... but for argument's sake let's say it isn't. God created animals (like dinosaurs) before humans. So what's the problem?

Yes, there is no proof (as in being 100% certain). But it can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. And that's enough.

Ahh.. now you're not an athiest anymore, you're a partial deist. The problem with deism is that it's "the easy way out" since deists acknowledge God, but don't work to develop a relationship with Him.
Going back to what you said earlier:

You can still be ignorant if you don't make enough of an attempt to learn/observe/figure out. A lot can be learned through reason... I'd just give Aquinas' proofs of the existance of God a chance. If you go through them and choose to not believe based on any reason besides "I just don't want to" or "I'm too lazy", then you definately aren't ignorant. |
