DJ Mag Top 100 Party (pg. 2)

Armin's style is just too average. Yes - he's a very active DJ, has a large radio show weekly, does tons of gigs and all that, but the style of music he plays is just pretty standard. Everytime I've seen him live, it's been the same thing - start out with ASOTish prog, bang out a few ASOTish uplifting trancers, and then destroy my hearing with 5 hours of monotonous hard tech trance for the rest of the set. That's what I really don't like about his live sets - I always end up sitting the second half of them out, and usually leave way before he finishes.

Both Tiesto and PVD are different. They're way more dynamic with their track selection as well as mixing. Especially PVD. That guy mashes tracks live, goes on crazy mixing sprees (mixing 3 tracks in 10 minutes), jumps from uplifting trance into groovy funk beats then over to some harder stuff and back forth back and forth. That's what I love - the constant switching, keeps the set fresh and surprising. But with Armin, it's like once you hear that first hard techer in his set, you know what you're gonna hear for the rest of the night - the same !

PvD - I think what he's doing with Ableton is groundbreaking IMHO.
Armin
Tiesto
Ferry
Sasha

If I get this right, you all owe me a drink next time you see me out.

I'm prob gonna get torn up for this... but in the five times I saw PVD last year, only once did I really get into it. It may be me, maybe my tastes have changed... but if I hear TOOL one more time - be it mashed-up, Ableton mixed, whatever - I'm gonna snap.
On the same note, I saw AVB three times, and same thing - only once did I really get into it (it was a tiny venue and it was an un-announced show, so the mood was set for a killer night)
My vote went AVB (1), PVD (2), and I think it's appropriate.
But, that's only my opinion...

the last time i had fun @ PVD was the last time he was at Roxy...i thought Central Park ( both nights) was OK..nothing special..Armin under the bridge both days was the best event ive ever been to..that was his best show this year and his 2nd best was in DC

true, but that is what i like. sets are similar, tunes are different.
PVD's track selection sux imo
what is an avg style??? it is just armins style, as u said pvd and tiesto have their own styles, it is all about whether u like it or not
danlaxx1
Yeah, I saw those results on the Above & Beyond forums. Supposedly they're "official." Guess we have to wait and see.

I still can't help but laugh when I look at these supposed valid results. Christopher Lawrence #4 and DJ Dan at #5. :haha:

what about sander van Doorn?

On TA top 250 list,he has been selected #7 DJ. He has raised about #100.
i dont believe the djmag's Top list. PVD has been selected number one Dj and tiesto #3.There are a lot of noobs voting to the pool.
