Ok honestly, stop ing insulting me.
It's not my fault you brought up the subject of comparing EDM to Hiphop and saying they're the SAME thing. That kind of stuff will bring forth empty, irrelevant arguments, so please, excuse me. :rolleyes:
On a side note, I don't really care.
You've insulted me and edged me on long enough. TA and real life partying was separate for me, but man, you pissed me off. I know you don't care about me but I personally don't like having beef with ANYONE.
And now I do.

I learned that you shouldn't take things too seriously on message boards..they're there for fun discussion like this one and nothing more. Gotta remember we're all friends and we're all here because of our shared love for ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC (Greg, I'm using it as a genre now so that i can connect us all...see what i meeeaaann? :p)

EDM is not a genre. Trance/House/etc/ are genres. People use the term EDM as a genre to connect all of those others into one, when they do that trance/house/etc./ become sub-genres. It's easier that way when they get compared to OTHER musical genres like hip-hop, country, raggea, etc.
Hip hop by itself has nothing in common with trance/house/etc. apart from the fact that the beats are made electronically (which AGAIN can be said about a thousand other genres these days) and some historical & perceptive similarities which you continue to confuse with the actual music styles...

There is no irony in my two statements- you are insinuating hipocrisy, not irony. (A common misconception about the definition of Irony)
These two genre's both started as a blur, and are slowing burring back together. More and more I hear much more varied tracklists and a real sense of all of this music just being put into a mixing bowl. THis is becoming more and more apparent with the sort of new electro/rock/rap/dance etc coming out these days (DFA, Soulwax, etc).
Also, as I already mentioned, these genres have MANY similar roots, so I have no idea why you are bringing that up again. I may end up just quoting myself.
Also, I hate using the word EDM as a blanket for this community. It's too broad and too commonly misinterpreted/differently interpreted.

I know more about the hip hop culture than most as it was something I was active in for a LONG time as a graffiti artist. I don't know what you mean by your last comment, so please explain in different words. It's kind of hard to rap, without rap. If anything I was replying to your comments about how vocal laden hip hop is/how much housetrancedancelectro isn't.
Four elements of hip hop, we are focusing on two: the rapping and Djing aspects. |
