Calvin and Hobbes was genius. I love the snowman strips. Watterson really dip some great expressions. I realize he was very against commercialization of the project, but I think the comic is ripe for a movie remake.
One of my all time favorite socio-political commentaries, Calvin and Hobbes gives what is probably the most honest and blunt viewpoint on major social issues of our time that I can imagine, and all without being overtly "preachy."
For those of you unfamiliar, Calvin and Hobbes is a comic strip written by Bill Waterson. Waterson is an absolute master at exposing the hypocrisy of current American politics in a manner that neither comes off as partisan nor messianic. He does so by positing them through the lens of a overly imaginitive 6 year old and his stuffed tiger Hobbes. Their seemingly innocent exploits and adventures almost always have broad social implications, but becuase of they way they're put forth you never feel as though Waterson is pushing a political or social agenda upon you.
In any event - Any other fans out there? What are your favorite strips?
For those of you who aren't familiar, check it out - Loads of good stuff!
I bought like 10 of the compilation books.
