word...
I wouldn't call anyone a loser, but I'd say that it says a lot that this one object, not even a living being, this one corporation had such control over people's lives. People lost their jobs over this. People were assaulted over this. People stopped going to school over this device. I saw one guy who put off buying his girlfriend an engagement ring so that he could buy a PS3. Doesn't matter whether a person lined up for a week to keep it or to sell it. Either way, the PS3 was in control. Just says a lot I think. |

ether that or they'd say anything to make the news =)
guess he'll forever go down as that dude that put off his engagement ring:disbelief |

| Toys R Us Times Square is fully stocked with Wii's if anyone's interested. I was just over there about an hour ago with a co-worker who was buying one. The place is a mess. Nintendo's got the right idea makign it readily available though. What's the point of releasing a gaming system right before x-mas and then not makign it available? I'm all for Playstation but it looks like Sony's abou to take a huge hit if they don't play their cards right. |

from my perspective both releases have been properly implemented. it's one of Sony's trademarks because they end up selling more batches of systems rather than saturate the market with product. It helps balances supply and demand, especially if supply doesn't meet the demand. Nintendo undoubtedly was going to be the most purchased console this season because it was significantly cheaper than the PS3 even if both matched the number of release units.
I don't think Sony will take any hit at all, I think they have a solid 1-2years worth of Console sales, and ever growing game development which admittingly isn't the easiest to design for but will find it's niche sooner or later.
I say Wii right now, PS3 for the long haul.
PS3 will probably show a better sale trend in the 3-5yr analysis compared to the 360 and the Wii. I'd say the Wii would be in more house holds compared to the PS3, but will begin to learn how technologically advanced the PS3 will be. |

+1
I agree about a system being available. If PS3 units go from 1 million to 400,000 and then down to 150,000, they were better off pushing back the release date until they had enough to go around.
As for the Wii, like the other next gen systems, it also had it's share of a problem:

The PS3 is sick.
If I was 14, Id wait in line for it, the graphics are crazy nice.
I have a couple in the store, but they sold almost immediately, lol. |

some would say thats what the mass believes ;)
most of sony's lines are like that, even with my hdtv i had to wait for the third shipment to come in =) i think sony knew they weren't going to out right beat nintendo sales so they scaled it back purposely. one being the price point, most people would rather drop 250-300 for a wii then 5-600 for a ps3. a 250-300 price point will dominate any product with a higher price.
i begin to think sony does this on purpose, but in the long haul, it solidifys it's branding by harvesting loyal fanboys like myself. this goes to say i don't ever down talk without promote and i've contributed my thoughts to the wii in the gaming tech thread. =)
another thing that sony does is they buy peoples technology, everyone does it, even logitech.
one question - why is there more negative talk about sony then positive? it always seems like fanboys have to defend their product and promote competing products. sad that sony gets frowned upon just because they are such a large company. i agree they may never do 1 thing well, but their hands are in so many fields I think they atleast deserve more credibility than the amount of hate they receive.
edit
i guess people downtalk sony like i downtalk ipod ;) |
