ps3 is the biggest flop ever cause its only been out for 2 months...
90% of the people returning units are people that couldn't sell them on ebay.
Ps3's are still selling out everywhere.
Something that Sony isn't pointing out is how many people went out to buy their tv's etc after Ps3.
People still don't understand that Ps3 is more then just a gaming system. After 2-3 years it will make 360 & Wii look like a joke.
Can you even justify the $300-$400 price tag other then its more affordable for you? |

Well I got my PS3 back in December. Feb/March is when it kicks things off. Heavenly Sword = :eyes:
Wii I'll get in a little while. Doesn't look exciting to me right now. |

You kids are spoiled! I'm sick and tired of hearing that PS3 is overpriced! That's IT!! I AM INVOKING THE ALL-POWERFUL NAME:
NEO GEO!!!!
Have you forgotten? Granted, some of you probably were wee babies when it came out but here's your 411 on the subject matter:

Initially, the home system was only available for rent or for use in hotel settings, but SNK quickly began selling the system through stores when customer response indicated that people were willing to spend the money. Compared to the other consoles of the time, the Neo Geo AES was incredibly powerful, thanks to its high-end graphics and sound chipsets. The home system featured two CPUs: a 16-bit Motorola 68000 main processor running at 12 MHz and an 8-bit ZiLOG Z-80A coprocessor running at 4 MHz. The system's main CPU was over 50 percent faster than the 68000 processor found in Sega's Genesis console (12MHz vs ~7.6MHz). The Neo Geo AES also had the benefit of its specialized audio and video chipsets. A custom video chipset allowed the system to display 4,096 colors and 380 individual sprites onscreen simultaneously (compared to 64 simultaneous colors and 80 individual sprites for the Genesis), while the onboard Yamaha 2610 sound chip gave the system 15 channels of sound with seven channels reserved specifically for digital sound effects. Surround-Sound was also used in a number of games.
The console was planned to debut at $599 USD and included two joystick controllers and a game (either Baseball Stars or NAM-1975). However, this plan was quickly scrapped and when the system had its national launch it debuted at $649.99 with two joysticks, a memory card, and a single pack-in game, Magician Lord (the early Neo Geo boxes had a gold sticker announcing the inclusion of Magician Lord over the initially planned choice of two games), this package was known as the "Gold System". The system was also released in a "Silver System" package, which included one joystick controller and did not include a game or memory card. Other games cost $200 and up — each. With these "premium" prices though, most gamers weren't able to afford the system and so the console was only accessible to a niche market.

thats really too bad, because I was looking for a gaming system and nothing more. Sony doesn't realize that they should be making gaming systems, instead of selling blue ray disc bait. |

blu-ray will not flop, no reason it should honestly! The technology is hands down superb. 54gbs and upwards for multi-layered discs. I really don't see how/why that technology would flop tbh because we all know that picture quality has a constraint because of the size of storage capacity on portable media. Remove those constraints and programming/production are even furthered than the capabilities we are accustom to now.
and as for a gaming system, well yea that is what it is right...just you get that extra blu-ray player capability. that doesn't mean you can't play hd-dvd, dvd, mp3, and all the other various formats that you/most are accustom to. |

woooah! you took it back lol. they were way ahead of their time with that kind of pricing. they must have been smokin' that good .
personally i'm still waiting to see where things go with both consoles. as far as i understand there aren't many good games out for either one yet. the Wii is so much more affordeable, though i hope for the ps3 to pull a "slow and steady wins the race". |

a bit off topic, but LG just announced that they've developed a hybrid HD-DVD and Blu-Ray player...so it def looks like both formats are here to stay for the time being..and for those who want the high-def video but dont care much for the gaming aspect have options now

| I think I'm gonna buy one of these in at most two four pay periods (two months, checks come bi-weekly at Foot Locker). My PS2 is starting to die on me so it's either 1) shell out $130 for a new PS2 and wait to buy a PS3 or 2) save the $130 and put it towards a PS3. It's really a no-brainer to go with the latter. I'm extremely loyal to PS so, as much as I wanted to buy an XBOX to game with my friends, I just couldn't. It goes against everything I believe in. When I was at BestBuy today I was soooo tempted to buy a game or two but didn't want to get my hopes up incase something happens where I won't be able to buy it. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE NEW GRAN TURISMO COMES OUT!!! |
