this board is full of s in need of a point in their life, wow... if this thread insults your intelligence so much, dont reply to it lol jesus... i for one disagree with basically all the ideas put forth by the thread-starter but no need to go PMS on him, good lord (with the exception of a few like ColorDancer and ReenTeenTeen)... and then you got people talking like they know what theyre talking about when in fact youre as pseudo-knowledgable as the thread-starter....

1) electro didnt start in the 80s... no1 in the 80s called it electro.... electro started in the mid-to-late 90s (id say in new york actually), and incorporates everything we love about the 80s.... the music that electro is based on now, wasnt called "electro" in the 80s, it was probably considered (ding ding ding) POP...

2) were all on this TA board for a reason, we all at one point loved trance and were in the scene and were together in some kind of a "trance culture".... dont think the thread-starter was looking at the culture TODAY, and if he was, then still, it would be better to look at the evolution of the culture between all different EDM styles

3) for those of you that say trance culture is dead, there is only a house culture.... you're pretty wrong as well... what other parties other than a boris or jonthan peters parties are really packed to the brim? even other new york dj's just dont seem to cut it as far as bringing in numbers.... the EDM scene as a whole is dead if you want to call trance dead, trance culture is as dead as house culture in NYC is (if you consider ignorant dudes waving their A/X sunglasses to "techno music" a culture).... 9 out of 10 of the clubs promoted anywhere have hip hop, rock, pop, and MASHUPS being played Fridays and Saturdays... if there is any single NYC culture, it's a mashup see-and-be-seen culture

electro did exist in the late 80s, it was underground and seldom heard outside of the club scene.

Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force - Planet Rock

is probably THE Electro track from the 80s that practically sparked the genre.... infulenced/inspired a load of tracks, not in just the electro genre... it was such an innovative track during those days... hip hop, breaks, electro all in one.... 1982 baby...

'Electro' EDM Music is due to Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath from early 90's. ;)

I always saw the Depeche Mode synth sounds as being the mother of electro but what do I know...

If people are ignorant then they should be educated not ripped, I always saw the trance culture has having alot of love, its a shame thats dying too.

:D Almost as influential as "Planet Rock"

Im sure Tony de Vit and PvD played it too back then, along with the legends like Frankie Knuckles and Danny Tenaglia.
