Burqa is relegion, culture, beliefs.. they wear it for respect, with respect..

you are wrong, its not religion, is a cultural thing.

But all cultures cannot coexist without reasonable accomodations.

Some africans marry many women, exchange women between brothers and even with the father. This is a culture trait, something frowned upon in the west and illegal in most countries.

Some cultures excice (sp?) little girls (removing the girl's clitoris) so she does not feel any pleasure during intercourse. Its illegal in the west and almost everywhere else. Should we let them do that if they ever moved over?? to hell with them!

How about cutting arms when caught stealing? Would you let them get away with that?? let them because its in their culture and maybe religion (not sure)?? Of course not.

When you move in a new country, we welcome your positive cultural bagage but please leave some of your backward cultural traits at the border.

Guy 1: What have you learnt from your past relationships?

Guy 2: 'let me have a present will never become past'

Beats me, but it'd be a lot easier to say if you wrote it in comprehensible, correct English, particularly what Guy 2 said.

I don't think so. There is quite a bit of "culture, beliefs" associated with tattoos and earrings in some circles. Remember cultural experiences are relative and tattoos and earrings can be appreciated as much as religion and other cultural beliefs. Religion is not necessarily special as an experience. A lot of people can have the same experiences religion provides with other things. So in that sense i do believe it's comparable.

And I bet if the Dutch govt planned to ban tatoos and earning from workplace officially by passing a law.. thier would have been much more outrage on it both from media and people..

The problem is Mulims are so much allienated and looked down upon these days that if they say one word...whole western world pawns them and shut them up.. they dont have any rights left to practise their culture and beliefs anymore... same thing happened to jews in Germany.

Burqa is not backward.. will you ask Jews to cut long beard? Or Sikhs to get rid of turbans.. what about some nuns covering thier heads in curches.. Muslims are just being victimised and allienated..

if you say its right to tell them to give up burqa when in your country.. than is it right for Indonesia to tell people from your country to wear burqa when in their land?

Also comparing Africa with this is totally different.. incidents you stated above happens everywhere in every society.. I will give you examples of child rapes, child molestation, homocides and blame it on preachings of Christianity... you guys force a 13 year old girl to have sex with a 30 year old man and than vedio tape it for masturbation and porno.. isnt that hedious..What is odd to you is not odd to them, and what is odd to them is not odd to you..its not a Muslim thing or in thier culture.. and religion is not responsible for it, but lack of education and poverty..

I think you have no friggin idea what the is a burqa. First its not as widespread as you think, other than Afghanistan and some rural pockets in a few islamic countries, its not common to the muslim world.

Burqas are a cloth that cover a woman from head to toes including her face and eyes. Only a thinner piece of cloth near the eyes let the woman see where she's going at most.

And are you kidding me about child rape and molestation which is socialy and culturally unacceptable, outright criminal to something that is socialy and culturaly accepted such as excision in other societies. Are you even comparing the same things?
malek
and how's a jew, muslim or hindu beards comparable to a cloth that diminish the woman to just nothing?

How is a beard impeaching someone from participating into society (except military and police jobs) compared to a woman who is covered from head to toe, face included?

Come on man, be realistic.

and here's a burqa for your education:

women wearing the burqas are oppressed women, forced to submit to their husbands, get little or no education and live a life of non-existence.

Burqas force a woman to isolation by not letting her integrating society, make friends, go to work, participate in the neighbourhood, etc.

*Its not only about a piece of cloth*, I thought you guys _knew_ that

I think you're pretty much right on all points .... but what will this law effectively do?

I imagine it will push the muslim community to radicalize itself even more :(
no?

if it makes them question themselves, then its a step in the right direction.

Did you guys know that Tunis is the country that is the most anti burqa, scarf, etc in the world? and its a muslim country.

They were tired of all the integrist bull.

If a Muslim lady is aloud to walk around dressed like a Ninja then I think we should all be able to wear Balaclava's (ski masks).
