....the original NES.

It paved the way for so many more systems that came along. Even 11 years after its demise, I am still entertained by the simplicity of such games as
MegaMan2
The Goonies II
River City Ransom
Golgo 13
Ninja Gaiden
Shadowgate
Deja Vu
The Uninvited
Castlevania 1, 2 & 3
Wizards & Warriors
Super Mario 2 & 3
9 out of 10 homes had an NES. It truly made an impact on the gaming industry forever.
Here's to NES.

Not to mention that people are still calling any new video game/console "that Nintendo game".
You know you're a success when you've got the name of your company imbued in everyone's head to define the items your industry sector produces.
The NES was an in clover story at its finest.
+1 to the NES and the thread starter. |

I totally agree. However added to that list of games you wrote would be:
Contra
Lifeforce
Gradius
Master Blaster |

My favorite memory of the NES was from John Elway's Quaterback and Hoops. There was a secret Elway play that made your receiver run super fast and in Hoops there was a spot on the court that you would always make it from. Other games I loved:
Ghost and Goblins
Metroid
Mega Man 2
TMNT
Zelda
Link
Ironsword: Wizards and Warriors 2 - freaking Fabio on the cover
Friday the 13th
I still remember how happy I was back in 1985 at the age of 4 when i got my NES for christmas. |
