What were you talking about then? B/c a 15 year old can come on here and read a lot of the threads on this site...i.e. about drugs and get the wrong impression. So what, are we not allowed to speak our minds?
I know you thought that list wasn't funny. Some people did. It's all just the way you take it. And obviously you can't expect everyone to take it the same way - not that I think you do. But you can't make everyone happy on public forums.
People say offensive things on this site all the time. For the most part it's all just a joke, and in good fun. Think about half the comments in this thread that are demeaning to women. But you gotta realize it's a joke. Ya, you may not think it's a funny joke...but whatever...you can't tell people what to do - again, not that I think you're doing that.
But back to the censorship thing...you're saying a 15 yr old can come on this site and read this and think it's okay for men to treat them like that...what do you propose we do? It seems like the only option is censorship. Which IMO on a public forum is up to the person posting. |

And I wasn't really talking about relationships anyway. I was talking about how these types of "lists" are a bad reflection on sex in general. Say a 15 year old girl signs on here, and reads that, having little to no experience. She could easily read number 9 for example, and get the impression that it's ok for her boyfriend to be abusive, and that a guy ramming his down her throat is acceptable and she should stop being a "sissy".

I don't think that anybody is giving 15 yr olds enough credit myself. Any 15 yr old can likely come up with a lot worse and besides, information isn't anything compared to an imagination left rampant without it..... |

It has nothing to do with censorship. There was no where that I even mentioned censorship, or ever thought it should be censored.
I was saying that these things advocate a ed up view on sexuality in my opinion, and was giving an example of someone who could be impressionable enough to take these things seriously.
I would hope that most of you realize that a lot of that was satire, and wouldn't take it at face value. However, in general, even though it's funny, the list is "crap".
I don't think it should be censored... I don't care what people watch/read/think etc. It doesn't change anything for me, so why should I give two s? |
