I saw Armin van Buuren's stage manager shut off one of the decks while armin was dicking around drunk at 7 in the morning |

EXACTLY... that mix gave me a really cringy feeling. |

well lets say i choose 20 trance tracks . if i want to hear them on a Radio show or in a Mix Cd i will go to Armin\Above and Beyond and others before i go to Tiesto, HOWEVER, if i`m going to a party I will defently choose Tiesto to preform before all the other trance Dj`s .
Tiesto is a legend not because he has the best techinque he is a legend because he proved over and over that he gives you the best SHOW. |

I might be in the minority here, but I do like ISOS, and his tracks aren't terrible (tho I must scratch my head as to why after all these years he still doesn't know how to use a production studio).

I've always liked ISOS mixes and this continues to be the case. Whenever I've seen Tiesto live his mixing has been fine - last time i saw him was 2004 though. I need to see him live again soon to make a proper judgement on this and I want to see the show too, been too long.
His productions are another matter though. I really am not into his newer stuff. There were some good moments on 'Just be' and some cringe worthy moments too. His tunes lack depth and power at the minute and they haven't been getting any better. |

For me it was the best transition of the entire cd1. |

Uh-oh. We're expressing opinions again - and actually providing valid evidence for them. Better quit people. |

..or now. anyone who uses 'trainwrecking' to describe tiesto's mixing errors evidently hasn't listened to oakey's latest EM from amnesia.. now if there ever was a universal 101 guide on how to trainwreck then that would surely be it
as for my 2c to the discussion at hand, i saw him play a 3 hour set recently.. the first 2 hours (where he went from house to melodic prog stuff) had virtually NO errors, was all really smooth. in the last hour the pace upped to trance/tech stuff & it was only then that a few of the mixes started to sound rough |
Was that at Cream or gods. I went to see him at Gods and that was pretty much how it went. Noticed in the last half hour a few ropey mixes but stll really enjoyed it.
I dont go out to hear flawless mixing. I go out to hear tunes I like |

i believe this is the mix where he had two vocals overlapping that were out of harmony... wasn't pleasent for me... thankfully the rest of the mix was good. |

yep, gods :)
pretty much my sentiment.. i've heard dodgy mixing from him but never bad enough to put a damper on the night.. i thought that set was great overall (apart from let the light shine in.. how out of place was that??)
if i'd been at amnesia the night oakey was playing though, i swear blind i'd have left the dancefloor after the first 15 minutes, regardless of how much i liked the tunes! |
