It's not the method that is disturbing so much as the necessity to make it a public spectacle. As though a trial engineered by a government completely unaffected by his presence outside of their own self-involvement and "liberation" will bring justice to the people he has wronged. How can you punish murder with murder? We think so highly of our "civilization" but we are just apes with pens - this is not justice. It's a political decision by people who have -all nothing to do with the dead. He may have very well been a bad man, but those who think that 'justice is served' or that this will actually solve anything are quite wrong; Nothing ever changes. |

while there's plenty of kidding around going on in this thread do we know for a fact that his death will be made into a public spectacle?

Oh I suppose I don't know that at all. But even if it's in a quiet, unmonitored room where they just give him a noose and nobody watches, people will still smile smugly amongst themselves that 'justice is served' and that the world will be a better place without him here to sign papers that result in people dying. But you can't kill ideas. |
