Hey, I was just wondering about how good of a mucisian DJ Tiesto is? I thought he was really good. I really like the song "just be".

Nobody really knows. :o
Although Junkie XL, BT, Daniël Stewart, Geert Huinink, and Waakop Reyers might be able to give you some inside info if you got a chance to talk with them.

He's not much of one. I'll do a little bit of a comparison.
Mavie Marcos, the singer from Andain. In this analogous situation, Tiesto is as good a producer as she is a dancer. And for Christ's sake she does the ing running man towards the end of the video.

O ok, well thanks for the info. Are there any good trance artists who are considered pretty good musicians?
MrJiveBoJingles
Does it look really ing obvious to anyone else that the girl is lip-synching there? Or maybe the video is just out of sync.

BT, Oliver Lieb, Junkie XL, Cosmic Baby are all at least competent as musicians. James Holden grew up playing "real" instruments, too. But none of those guys really do much trance anymore, although they make other types of good music.

so these are act. good musicians?
frankgrimes87
SO then what makes dj Tiesto a bad musician or whatever?
MrJiveBoJingles
I wouldn't say he's a bad musician, because I just don't have enough information on how much gets done by him and how much by the production partners that he pretty much always has on every big track he does.

Ya, idk why some of these people dont like him. I mean i have this one album and its some badass stuff. What about dj mystik. Seems like people dont like him but some of the stuff ive heard is pretty insane, and would be hard to play.

I mean i've never heard him talk about any music training, other than getting a pair of TTs and collecting records in his teens and playing at a disco. Some of these other guys were doing more as far as music playing at a younger age, some were classically trained or played in a band.
Idk if he would be that bad, cause ive heard some pretty cool stuff, and it was put together very nicely and sounded great

The thing is, nobody knows how much of that Tiesto really writes and how much is written by Geert Huinink, Waakop Reyers, and others.
