In particular with regards to hearing / vision. (sight/ sound) I didn't realize there was an actual term for it until I stumbled across it this morning looking up on Pharrell lol.

"On the ABC show "Nightline" Pharrell said, "I could always visualize what I was hearing" and "It was always like weird colors," suggesting he may have synesthesia."

Since I've been a kid I've been telling people that I not only associate some sounds w/ colors but that I can visualize cloud like color shapes when I hear tunes. lol Now that I've read Pharrel has said the same I'm less worried that I've lost my mind.

When programming a set or making a cd of singles for someone, I always try to match the colors as close together as I can for flow...

what did you vote Jennie?

I believe in it.

Have no idea what the the colour people are talking about since I can't really see/hear it myself.

It must be true tho since the Pioneer DJM800 mixes with color effects.

It was most noticable to me when I was putting thought into music (not so much just at random). My Dad used to take me through his record collection when I was like four, and I would pick the songs I liked, and the order I would like to hear them on a tape.

This continued into my junior high day's when I started making hip-hop mix tapes, I would get into the same train of thought.. it would always end up with me visualizing the music in my head by association of color/feel of each track.

Of course, this started at such an early age I never really thought anything of it growing up. Plus, so many weird things happen in my head besides this - that it never really surprised me. lol

I voted yes! Duhhhh.

I'm taking processes of human diseases this semester, so I may learn even more about this kind of thing. I've always loved subjects like this, I really find it interesting. :)

Before this thread goes any further:

Do not confuse synesthesia with just simple relative associations. People associate emotions to colors and people associate emotions to music. Synesthesia is NOT associating a color with music simply because they invoke similar emotive sets. (Disclaimer: I am not saying jon jon has done this. This is meant for people reading this thread about to post "me too"...)

Synesthesia is the inter-coupling of SENSES (sight, sound, vision, taste, hearing) - not relating various emotive sets to stimuli.

Now with respect to the question: Synesthesia is a fairly well researched topic and I don't believe there is a lot of debate within the neurological community about the topic. It's generally agreed that it exists - so whether or not someone believes in it is a bit of a moot point. I voted "yes".

Strangley, when I was younger when I listened to more classic rock and hard rock I used to throw on those gigantic head phone, I totally used to create a new world visually in my head.

As I gotten older, I feel emotions more and see less....unless im k-ed off my tree.(not a k kind of guy really)
