Room 434 has started picking up some of the slack in milwaukee and a few people are starting different nights there. The scene in milwaukee never really has been that great, but ocasionally you'll have a really great a event come through, and I expect that to continue. I just don't think that we'll have many more wednesday night superstar dj shows.

I will be out on friday to party:p

Chicago thanks you for James Amato.

well, I like brady street. Red room would be a good place to spin, a little bit more appealing croud I think if you dont know it is on the corner of water and humboldt.

About Viccurria (spelling?) I head through the grapevine that they may be closing soon. Don't quote me on this but I could see it happening, too much stuff going on in there and not enough people going (that I know of).

ACTUALLY the scene in Milwuakee USED to ROCK!!!! of course thats about 10years ago. You guys used to have some of the best raves in the midwest, in some of the BIGGEST wharehouse venues I've been to. I guess that's the story for most of the midwest though. It's a sad story, & despite the fact that Chicago has worldclass dj's AT LEAST twice a week, our scene is dying too. There's not enough NEW blood to keep it going. The same laws that killed the rave, are killing our culture! It's time to fight back, or give up. I don't think enough people care.

p.s. I just got back from a VERY healthy scene in Montreal. They still have raves EVERY weekend, and 6-8 MASSIVES a year. One of few cities in North America where some IGNORANT ASS HOLES didn't make anti-constitutional laws to prevent electronic music culture from existing...

WE NEED A REALLY GOOD LAWYER!!!! (who cares) or we're gona experience the "last dance" in the near future...

Your right, drop bass in milwaukee was world renowned for thier further and even further events. After a while those were just to hard to pull off. One of my favorite mix's is richie hawtin at even further 99'.

And pat, like for years ago they used to have dj's at the red room pretty regularly, but the scene just isn't here

Drop Bass!!! Richie WAS AWESOME that night!!! You don't perhaps have a copy of that set, do you?

There were other promoters too. (I think, back in those days I didn't pay too much attention), but in 96' soon after I graduated a bunch of friends and I went to a wharehouse party in downtown Milwaukee. Police shut it down at about 5 am or so, not sure what dj's were even there that night, never even saw the flyer, but I do remember it was UNBELIEVABLE!!!

They soon made some of the first "anti-rave" laws in the country in the city of Milwaukee.

UNCONSTITUTIONAL and UN AMERICAN!!

We should have stood up for our rights then!

I hope it's not too late. I find happiness in dancing til the sunrise!!!

I wish our constitution still meant something!!!

But many of the others on that forum... yikes.

Hello guys thanks for being kind RJT I am glad someone takes notice!

I guess first let me first introduce myself to the people that don’t know me. I am the owner of milwaukeenights.com which was launched sometime in 2003. My intention on the website was to provide a resource for ALL of Milwaukee nightlife but it transformed itself to somewhat of a house mainstream website. I guess I have myself to blame on that because I grew up listening to Chicago style house music all my life! I remember as a young boy driving up to Chicago with parents and getting the latest hot mix tape! Boy those were the good old days….

I do understand many of the ignorant statements that present themselves on my boards but we have to somewhat deal with the ignorance in way we can further educate the drones about the underground music. The boards are a lot slower because I banned a few of the chatter boxes we had in the forums. I would rather have a few meaningful posts than 200 post about how the day is going etc. So right now the board is going through a transition period. Trust me it was a lot worst. Hopefully the transition will breed new registered users and transform itself in a better direction. We all know its not gonna be perfect because every board has a couple tools! hahaha

I agree with a lot of statements mentioned in the thread but I don’t want to give up on Milwaukee! I don’t think we should have that attitude! There are many underground spots left in the city! My concern is having a bigger venue for some of the bigger acts I have planned on brining down on 2007. On a side note: Milwaukee heads are so very damn cheap and those of you that live in this city understand how club owners don’t want to take chances on big acts unless the responsibility is transferred to the promoter which I am more than happy to take on BUT i need You all to come and support the scene! Many of us bitch about how Milwaukee sucks but many of us don’t come out and support! There is so much more to say but I don’t have the time to explain. The bottom line is I will not give up and will continue on bringing bigger acts down to Milwaukee. Now help me on where you would like to see these acts!

Sincerely

josh

Well said Josh, and apologies if it seems many have a negative view on how things are in Milwaukee right now. I realize that doing your job in this city is anything but easy, and really do appreciate the effort you make.

The one thing I guess I might add (at the risk of sounding like a whore) is that even though it's nice to have the bigger acts around every once in a while, I think a HUGE part of the problem is getting a more diverse line of local talent out and about. Just my $0.02, but I honestly think it'd help foster some sort of idea that there is a brewing underground scene in Milwaukee.

Beyond that - keep up the good work, and hopefully we'll see you out at Kaskade tonight! :)
