Finally a reason for me to come to TOTAland, since the Guv is always crammed to the nostrils :p

MADRID, Spain (Reuters) -- Former England captain David Beckham will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and sign a five-year deal for MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, he told Reuters on Thursday.

The 31-year-old, who joined Real from Manchester United in June 2003, is the most famous player to sign up for Major League Soccer since it began in 1996.

"This week Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract for a further two seasons," Beckham told Reuters.

"After discussing several options with my family and my advisors to either stay here in Madrid or join other major British and European teams I have decided to join LA Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year."

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I have my season ticket

As many of you already know, the 2007 MLS SuperDraft is taking place this Friday, January 12th, in Indianapolis.

This is an exciting and historic moment for Toronto FC as we will select 1st overall. Coaches and general managers from all 13 MLS clubs will attempt to find a “hidden gem”. We thought we'd send some Coles notes as to how the Draft works and who's in the running on our side of the border...

The Draft features some of the finest collegiate and youth soccer prospects in the United States. The majority of prospects are graduating college seniors from NCAA schools while others come from Generation adidas. Generation adidas is a joint program between MLS and adidas - dedicated to developing exceptional domestic talent in a professional environment.

Canadians eligible for the draft include: Richard Asante (Syracuse), Nigel Marples (Towson), Jeff Gonsalves (Rhode Island), Riley O'Neill (Kentucky), and Tyler Hemming (Hartwick). The Draft includes four rounds and 52 selections.

The first hour of the SuperDraft will be televised LIVE on The Score starting at 12 noon, with the remainder of the event streamed live on www.MLSnet.com, the league's official website.

Selection order for the 1st ROUND:
1.Toronto FC
2.Columbus Crew
3.Kansas City Wizards
4.Real Salt Lake
5.Los Angeles Galaxy
6.Colorado Rapids (from New York Red Bulls) - A
7.Chivas USA
8.Chicago Fire
9.FC Dallas
10.Los Angeles Galaxy (from Colorado Rapids) - B
11.D.C. United
12.New England Revolution
13.Houston Dynamo

Just another publicity thing for MLS like always...

Lets get a washed up 31 year old to play for us, to get more watchers..Its a good move, but beckham will give them 1 maybe 2 seasons of decent play and thats it.

Adamo
rumours are that Ronaldo is also considering joining MLS. I'll definitly be watching some Toronto FC games now to see beckham and hopefully his wife.

+1..i think its a great thing for MLS...

I'm sure it'll draw a lot more attention and hopefully gain a larger fan base.

I'm not a huge football fan, but I do enjoy watching it every once in a while and am even more excited now for Toronto FC!

Hopefully i'll get a chance to catch a few games!
