MELODY or QUALITY ???

These days, many of the songs have a HIGH QUALITY song production but the MELODY ARE NONSENSE! It’s like cheap melody. It sucks!

There are many CHEESY tunes b4. Even though the qualities are bad, but many of them have a great melody! It shows a deep emotion. Meaningful. Touching.

What do you prefer. Melody or Quality?
Marc Summers
I prefer stuff like

Uh both are equally important..basically a quality melody. But some tracks work well just as a simple, kind of cheesy melody...like "Larry Mountains 54" by David West, it's just a fun track that isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's still quality though. Then there's other tracks with a more serious melody, like Digital Witchcraft's "Fingerpaint" or say Envio's "Time To Say Goodbye", just two tracks I can think of off the top of my head. Just some examples of a quality melody that doesn't sound too cheap or a rip off, as so often is seen in today's trance music. A quality melody doesn't neccessarily need to be a complex melody, just something a bit more original, memorable and enjoyable to the listener.

there are simple tracks that can survive based on a strong melody. sometyhing like transa - enervate for example. very simple tune with a very simple structure but a strong melody carries it and it just works. then again quality isnt necessarily measured by complexity...so in the end its all very subjective
Mr.Mystery
It all has to be good.

sure. but, hardly.

b4, there are so many great melody with a cheesy quality. these days, it seems finding high quality music is far more easier than finding great melody.

It's a question of aesthetics (production) versus the human element (melody). One sounds very pretty but ultimately is nothing more than gloss, the other is the thing that actually invokes reponses from the listener, but needs good presentation to get the best from.

Age-old analogies: sexy girl with no personality, film with great special effects but acting, video game with awesome graphics but awful gameplay. And so forth. I think most people agree that there should be a balance between the two.

+1
Bulletproof
I think both are fundamental, but a good melody is reeeeeally important, since it's the "soul" of the music, imo.
