| Having my mom sit me down, talk to me, and use the words, "I'm very disappointed in you," always hit me a lot harder than a spanking could, in my opinion. |

Yea, that method probably works better in most cases, but to make it illegal to do anything else than this is absurd. |

Oh, I'm not saying that they should make it illegal. While I don't necessarily agree with spanking, I think it's a waste of time to outlaw it. |

My friend who is sitting beside me said that he got spanked as a kid, and it made him act out more because he was raging out against what was done to him. When his brother was born, they did the opposite and just talked to him when he did wrong, and he never never acted out against it.
Making spanking illegal isn't a bad thing**, the act of spanking is what is bad.
**It's juss a little too extreme. |

Mm-hmm. Kind of a "violence promotes violence" sort of thing.
Edit 2: Wait... it's not on page one. :wtf: |

Let's see the things I've been spanked for during my childhood:
- For being heretic: I'm agnostic now;
- For not knowing rare verb tenses in Portuguese: I completely forgot how to use those words, and I'm strictly against their use;
- For breaking a mirror: My parents were afraid that I would get hurt with the pieces of glass. Ironically, spanking hurt me a lot more :p;
- For being disorganised: I'm incredibly disorganised with my time and my room is a constant mess. My posts, essays and pretty much any written work are the exception :D
...
- Other reasons: Results were the opposite of what was planned.
As far as I know, being spanked had a similar effect on pretty much everyone else I know. |

| You guys fail to consider one obvious point and that is that this law will not work because there is no way of regulating or enforcing it. Are you going to have cops at every home? I didn't think so. |

Will parents take their spanked kids to a doctor? Nah, that won't happen either :p |

Unless, of course, someone sees a parent do it publicly. I think the law is just a complete waste of time. I'd rather see a government set a plan to encourage alternatives to spanking and focus more time on making laws that actually make sense.
Now, I return to homework. |

You're very right, but...
1-Parents slip
2-Kids talk
3-People can catch this happening. |
