Aside from Graham taking a couple tokes on others' ciggies on Sat. night (2 thumbs down on the people who contributed to his delinquincy!), he's remained cigarette-free.

not sure if its true but i hard that bananas can help people trying to give up smoking ... the B6, b12, potassium and magnesium found in them can help the body recover from effects of nicotine withdrawal ...

no idea if it actually works ...

So, 1 week in and both of them are cigarette free! This worked on a person who wanted to quit (Dallas) and on someone who was being forced to quit by me (Graham).

If anyone is considering quitting, I highly recommend u try this laser thing. 20 mins of your time, and thats it. Habit gone.

Again, most places in the TO area charge $300 and up. Call around and check prices. If u have a car, it's worth going to this place in Lindsay, ON. 1.25 hr drive from TO, $100 flat, 30 day guarantee.

Wow...the difference between prices in Toronto compared to Lindsay. Not that I'm surprised!

Congrats to both of you guys ;) I hope it continues to work.

Does this work on people who don't want to quit? Or would it be better going in with the mentality that u want to quit. I want my b/f to quit, but he really doesn't want to at this stage...would it be worth getting him to do this lazer treatment regardless?

Tomorrow morning, we're driving to Lindsey, ON to go to a place to get them laser treatment to quit smoking. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't offer them any cigarettes this weekend (or thereafter). Let's see how this works, and if successful, more of you should try it.

~crosses fingers~

Do you mean TheraLase low intensity laser light treatments?

EDIT:

NM ...

Yup, it works. More effectively than acupuncture too.

Are you referring to TheraLase low intensity lasers?

I'm surprised you have to drive that far...

My chiropractor here in Collingwood has had one for years now, they do MARVELOUS things. Really fantastic. Healed up my heel spur and shin splits in weeks, something I'd been living with for years (hell spurs) and months (shin splits).

I cant recommend TheraLase low intensity laser light treatments enough.'

WOW! 300$ and up! , no way my chriopractor would charge that. I know he's used it to help 3 patients so far, but i never asked what he charged them. No way its that...but then again, this is collingwood, so like lindsey, you'd expect it to be A LOT less than it is in toronto.

I'mma ask what he charges when I"m not in for an adjustment.

Like I said, Graham really wasn't what I'd call 'wanting to quit'. I told him "You're quitting this Fri" with about 3 days notice (but he's known I've been trying to get him to quit for 2 yrs). I was worried it wouldn't work, cuz I could see the look of apprehension on his face when he gave the typical 'yes, dear' type of answer. I knew he was doing it cuz I was making him, and I know that look was doubt. I was really fearful he'd do it and just turn around and smoke again, but luckily he hasn't since (aside from sneaking a couple drags when he was very drunk the next night). I just tried to hype him up the day before going, told him to please get excited, that this was a gift. He did get hyped when Dallas came over the night before and they talked about it. Having Dallas go thru it with him helped I think too. She was much more excited and positive about it than him, but I think all u gotta do is 'pump them up' a bit before going. It didn't take much. Again, this place had a 30 day guarantee (and others might as well), so if it fails they can always go back for another session if they slip.

So Dallas, do you just not feel like smoking? Or do you suddenly think the idea is just crazy? Are you grossed out by smoking now?

Imagine if it was nothing more than the placebo effect?? Hahaha...300+ dollars for a placebo!!

I personally feel it would have been more rewarding had they been able to do it of their own free will. I don't see why anyone's proud of them, other than being proud of making the choice (sort of) to quit. But quitting is quitting, right? As long as they're smoke-free and healthy, that's all that matters. :)

What are the chances of a relapse with this kind of treatment?
