I've been thinking about doing this one for a while, but with the desire by a couple folks for the hummus recipe, and requests for a few soup recipes, I thought I'd just start up a thread to share various tasty treats with you all.
If any of you guys have some good recipes to share, for anything, feel free as well.
I'm going to start with a simple hummus recipe :)
Hummus from the Other Side
**Note: You'll need a food processor for this one**
What you'll need:
- 2 Cups Garbonzo Beans with their Juices
- The Juice of 1 Lemon
- 1.5-2 TBSP Cumin Powder
- 1 TBSP Hot Sauce
- 2-4 Cloves Garlic
- Approx. 1/2 Cup Tahini Sauce
- Salt
Directions:
01. Add garlic to food processor and chop finely
02. Add beans to food processor and puree
03. Add tahini, blend
04. Add hot sauce, cumin, and lemon juice, blend together.
05. At this point, you should taste the hummus - then add more cumin, hot sauce, or tahini to taste and blend again.
06. Once you have the hummus spiced right, gradually add salt until you reach your desired saltiness.
07. Refrigerate and serve chilled :)
There are a LOT of variations to this recipe you can do - adding roasted red pepper, tomatoes, extra garlic, or basil are all nice, but really you can add just about anything you'd want in your hummus.
Enjoy - More to come. |

why do you get YOUR OWN recipe thread???
just make it a TA CORe recipe thread, or something along those lines, and then we can all post delicious things we cook up...

I said anyone could post whatever they'd like :)
But I'm guessing I'm the only one who will do anything consistently, and as this is most likely primarily going to end up a thread full of my recipes, I'm claiming it as my own!

Spaghetti Puttanesca with a twist of Spain

I originally saw this dish on Jamie's Kitchen, but I decided to modify it to use up some ingredients, and it turned out tasting excellent!
Ingredients
- 2 Cans of diced tomatoes
- 2 Chorizo Sausages
- 3 small red chillies, seeded & chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 tbsp of dried oregano
- Handful of black olives, chopped
- Handful of fresh basil
- Salt
- Cracked Pepper
- Olive Oil
- Spaghetti
Directions
(1) Heat a pan and add a generous splash of olive oil. Add the garlic, chillies, chorizo and oregano. Cook for a minute or two, or until ingredients soften. You don't want them to start going brown - don't wait too long!
(2) Add the cans of tomatoes and the olives to the pan and bring to the simmer. Continue cooking for a further 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionly.
(3) Add salt and cracked pepper to the sauce - season to taste.
(4) Bring a pot of water to the boil and then add the spaghetti. Add a pinch of salt and a splash of olive oil to the water and continue stirring.
(5)Once the pasta is cooked, drain it thoroughly. Now, simply add the pasta sauce to the same pot and mix it all together. Grab the fresh basil and loosely break it up...you should only put it into the sauce at the very end so that you get the fresh flavours. Make sure that you get the basil right in there so the residual heat will soften it and cook it a little bit.
I really like spicy food, but you can take out the chilli or use less if you don't want it so hot. Also, I didn't have the traditional capers or anchovies used in this dish, so I didn't include them. If you don't have chorizo (spanish sausages), you could use anything really - ham, bacon, sausages...whatever you like.
Buon Appetito! |
