your top 3 nights EVER in GUV main room + stories (pg. 3)

My top 3 parties ever in the Guv room were the same as Jon's except for one.

PvD 01, the 2nd time I saw him and just around when PoD 1 came out, he KILLED IT. I have a vid of him dropping For an Angel for an encore (30 second vid someone took).

Howells I couldn't agree more with because for the same reason as Jon, I finally 'got' house.

As for my third set in the Guv mainroom I'd say it was a Mauro Picotto set at one of the first May 24 parties there in 2002 as well I think (or was it 01?) All I know is that it was all access, dnb (aphrodite and dmc before that in KH) and then Mauro in the Guv mainroom, played all the classics: Komodo and a bunch of others.

Those 3 are tops for the Guv mainroom.

Honourable mention: The Smirnoff Experience 01 (one of the best corporately organized events I've been to in TO), that was awesome, funny thing is I ended up going solo b/c most people I knew weren't going, was going to meet up with a friend there and couldn't find them, ran into them randomly while switching rooms. I had a blast!

I wish all parties there now are like that.:(

P.S. Halo 20? Haha :)
You hear the info (and leaked track) about their upcoming album Jon?

That was Nathalie! I'm pretty sure. She got someone to bring her back one of those from Holland I think I remember.

Timo Maas's opener in Koolhaus was also one of the best tech house sets I've heard. I think it was a Freedom party...

Very tough to come up with three nights out of all that I have spent there, but here are the three that stand out most in my mind.

1) Labour of Love 1- Sept 2002
The party was all access but my story is mainroom based...
I was 18 at the time and used the worlds worst fake id to get into the club. I had come from windsor with my friends and really was only interested in seeing Bad Boy Bill who I think I must have downloaded a song from some time before. The Guv had not yet instituted the one way motion policy that they use at all access events now, and we were trying to get into the mainroom, and got trapped in a bottleneck going from the orange room into the guv. We missed all of Bad Boy Bill's set, and were forced to listen to the in the orange room for an hour and a half.
When we got back into the mainroom some guy named Armin Van Buuren was playing, which at first dissapointed me since I had an Armin Van Helden remix of a Daft Punk song, and I wanted it to be him instead. Then I listened to the set and it changed my life.

2) Ferry Corsten-March 13, 2004 (Diggers was in KH same night)
As Lisa mentioned before this night makes the list primarily because of surprise value. They had posted the set times earlier in the day and I remember looking up time after time and saying "He's still going?" His encore track that night was "Rock Your Body". I know it doesn't seem that significant anymore, but at the time I had just come out and I remember being so exhausted from his 8 hour set that I had been just sitting on a speaker off to the side, and when that came on I catapulted off my seat.

3) *I know I'm going to get some disagreement on this one*
Steve Lawler- Halloween 2005
Sure it was packed, and there was a ridiculous costume contest and jackasses in huge costumes that got in the way, but dressed in my best short shorts as Richard Simmons hearing Lawler that night was the set that opened my ears to house music. I'll never forget it.
Jem_hadar
This will require deep thinking.

Hmm. TBA.

Josh just reminded me of one of my top 3.

Above & Beyond - July 2005

It was the first time I had ever heard them live, and what an amazing set that was. So uplifting, really great amazing trance!! Tunage the ENTIRE night. Satellite was by far my fave track that night. I remember a load of TAs at the front of the mainroom just belting out the words.

I remember Mark's set afterwards was probably the best set I've heard of his too - at least IMO. That was Ilyia's last part as well before that bastard took off for San Fran.

A very honourable mention for me was...

Blank and Jones- Chinese New Years, Feb (24th i think) 2005
-This was the first night I met all of the "TA's"
-I was convinced Carney hated me, and walked up to RJ and said "You're Desidel on Tranceaddict right?"
-And the tunes were mental too

This would have to be my favorite set in the Guv as well. Tunes were mental!

I shoulda enjoyed that PVD set everyone's talking about, but he pissed me off so bad cuz he wouldn't even look up at the crowd but for 2 short moments and never smiled, and it was driving me nuts!!!! I missed one of the best sets ever focusing on that crap. Ah well, at least I met Frankie & Lama from Montreal at that show.
