Like there was just something about the mystique of it all.
Being picked up by a bus, dropped off at a parking garage in who-the-heck-knows where, hearing tunes you knew sounded good - bad had no idea what genre it was, then leaving when it was all over. Not caring if the set was good, or whether the dj beatmatched properly.
Everyones first experience was probably their best because like I mentioned earlier, nothing compares to it. |

I saw Tiesto at his all ages event in 2008
and James & Doman opened for him
Was pretty amazing, i was soo happy because for years ive been seeing DVD's of these events and never got to experience it in person
except i was dying to leave when tiesto came on, because of all the hundreds of kids trying to push to get to the front to see tiesto :eyespop:
But yeah, ive never been to any other event, or even a club for that matter |

It really saddens me that I'm missed those types of parties by only a couple years. It was one of the things that really amazed me about the scene. |

If that was the one on a weekday, that was probably one of the best parties I've ever been to. |
That's the party that was recorded right?
I remember wanting to go to that party so badly, but my ride bailed so I couldn't make it. Then I heard the set afterward and just about died. |

I always wonder what would have happened if I'd have gone to raves during the high school days...
But I think it's better that I started when I was a little older and more experienced with life...
Best times of my life though since I started at Guv...
It's weird but I really feel that my entire first year was as good as the first time... |

March 10th, 2001 Mark Oliver Guv
I tried going the weekend before, which was my birthday weekend, 4th being my actual birthday on the sunday. Brought a fake ID, and they in stripped it and I had to taxi back home with my head hanging in shame. Came back the next weekend with my real license lol. My first party was a RUN DMC rave when i was like 16-17ish, but I never did anything like that again til I was 19. |

Haha coincidentally, my first party was headlined by Mark EG too... Funtazia 2 I think it was called and it was held in an old airport hanger. They even had a gravitron in the venue. The party wasn't what got me into the scene, but was still quite the experience haha |

FREAKIN' @ The Docks - Oct 1999
I went to my first "rave party" in high school. I hadn't gone for the DJ's so I can't remember who was actually DJing. But i remember there being 3 tents (Jungle, House & Happy Hardcore), 100 filthy port-a-potties, and 10,000 ravers.
I was in the jungle room for most of the night. lol. In fact, that was the night a speaker fell on the girl and closed down the party... can u imagine the rush out of there?!?! |

Pete Tong @ 5ive in April 2002.
It was a Goldclub series party. Those parties were always off the hook. From then on it was Labor or Love and many others to come. I just missed the Delta Heavy Tour that was in April just weeks before that.
And I've tried to collect thoughts on that night ever since. The closest to S+D coming back was last year for their Spring Tour, however Sasha couldn't make it. Although I did see them in Montreal last year and that was incredible. Probably the most memorable party of my career. |
