ty ass day today. Just went with my boss to sign up a new client…death case. An 18 year old girl got hit by someone going the opposite direction on a major highway at 3 in the morning on Saturday. She was coming home from a late movie with her friends. She was at University of Miami on a full scholarship..pre-law major. Overall standup girl…involved in the community in every way you could imagine. Employee of the month, you name it. Beautiful girl. I just had to sit there and listen to her mom talk about everything to us. Her body burned to death and we think it might be an issue with her car because she didn’t have one broken bone in her body, yet her car exploded on impact, so that’s weird. Could be a multi-million dollar case, but no amount of money will bring her back.
And on top of that, the toxicology report came back from an accident my ex was involved in last year where the other 2 people died. The ex I’m still friends with from 4 years ago, not my recent ex. Anyway, he was 2 times over the legal limit. He’s definitely going to prison for a while. It’s all just weird and a little too close to home for me.
Don’t ing drink and drive. Bottom line. It’s not worth it and irresponsible. As I get older, I’m getting better and better with this. I just won’t do it. Last night I took my sister to dinner and I had a glass of wine with a big steak and then a glass off baileys on the rocks after. I was fine. I had a big meal in me and 2 drinks, but I still handed her the keys because she is pregnant and didn’t drink, and I did. Even if on our way home someone slammed into us, I would still feel guilty that I even drove to begin with.
Why do people insist on driving after drinking? Just call a damn friend or a cab. It’s so simple. |

good point but its not just drinking that is a problem. Its people driving high on anything that can cause the same thing. I would say if you are going to drink smoke snort or drop or swallow a pill then dont drive or have a sober person with you.
No fun for the sober friend |

Don't we have a thread like this every few weeks or so? Someone knows someone or hears something about someone who dies because somebody was drunk and decided to drive somewhere and all of us needed a reminder not to drink and drive?

Oh, I'm not bitching. I just felt this overwhelming sense of deja vu upon reading your story.
I seriously feel like I've read it, word for word before.
Edit: Well, maybe it's just the smug sense of self satisfaction I'm able to infer from you asking and answering questions like "Why do people insist on driving after drinking? Just call a damn friend or a cab. It’s so simple."

the tat on my back is for my friend meredith who was killed in a car wreck the summer after our sophomore year in high school.
and i've been in a wreck before where the girl (didn't know this at the time) had taken xanax.
so don't drive ed up.
i'll drive high, but i think that's a little different. |
