Nope, her name isn't Stephanie and she isn't from Palatine. More towards the Rockford area.

In Chicago, yeah definitely. Unfortunately I'm down in Northern Texas for some training and the girls here aren't so nice. Gotta love the brunettes, though. I particularly like the Latina ones.

In response to your first question: No, that's not what I was saying at all. It has nothing to do with the fact that America is a democracy and people have the freedom to speak their minds. I was merely saying that if you are unhappy here- why stay and bitch about it, why not move to a place where you're more happy?

Leaving a country is a big deal. You have to leave behind friends and family, adapt to a new culture, make a whole new life. Besides why should anyone leave if they don't like their government?
You didn't xplicitly state anything about freedom of speech, but your statement clearly begs the issue to be raised in response. The beauty of living in a democratic country (one of the US's most touted advantages) is that if you don't like the governments actions you don't have to leave, you can get involved in debate and complain. If enough people complain then things will change and eventually policy may swing to your side... that's how democracies work. In the USSR, if you didn't like things you didn't have the option of complaining about it, that's why people left, and that's why it was so ...
It really surprises me that one has to explain such things.

Concerning the rest of your post- no I don't claim to have all of the answers, but I have done quite a bit of research on the subject and I've also come to the conclusion that the media never tends to report positive things as much as the negative because than there really wouldn't be much of a story.

The sentiment in your post necessarily implies the assumption that anyone who doesn't share your opinion must be manipulated by the media, and furthermore that they should leave the country, rather than expressing their dissatisfaction with their government's actions.

As far as the 3 pictures I've posted, no- I haven't based my opinion solely on those- in fact, I've been deployed and I've seen a lot of positive changes take place overseas. Problems, of course- but that's to be expected when you have muslim extremeists that want to kill everyone who doesn't believe in their religion and way of life.

Sure Northern Iraq (or Southern Kurdistan) is full of fans of the US. But that exception aside life for A LOT of Iraqis has become much worse in general, and more dangerous. Regarrdless of whether you think the invasion was justified or not. You have to admit that the US has to take responsibility for the destabilization of the country and shouldn't leave until it's fixed.

quote:
As far as Iraq being linked to Al-Qaeda. Yes! I believe that Iraq is and has been linked to Al-Qaeda- and I've posted only a few of many sources that support this.

Nothing specific has been found, Only anecdotal statements have been given. Also remember the intelligence report to the senate before the war, that strongly denied any link. Regardless of what you think on this issue, you can't discount the possibility that people holding opposing opinions are just as informed as you are. Writing off anyone with an opposing opinion as "manipulated by the media" is a patronising and narrow-minded position to take

Things I hate about the US

21+ drinking age
The rat race culture
Your monetary wealth measures your value in society
The media
The pshychotic religious people
The nanny state that is ever present, trying to create new rules that limit personal freedom
The fact that the top quintile of society recieves about 40% of national income
Football (soccer) is sort of a joke here
Paris Hilton
People chanting "U-S-A! U-S-A!" I ing hate that
The fact that people think they are automatically supiorior or think they deserve everything they have simply because they were born in this country.
The fact that we are a joke to the entire world
