^LOL Leo actually makes a good point...LP should just close Space down and re open it somewhere out in the boonies, maybe pay off someone in charge of the tribes here and run his club there where no one can say and no one would give a about noise, I doubt the gators and panthers would care :toothless
but that will never happen sooooo I think the 24 hour district will soon be no more.
Plus I really doubt they just arrested him for a noise violation, he prob. mouthed off or did something to get himself there. He was probably too coked up.
Regardless I am kind of sad cuz there really will be no place to party even if trance rarely gets booked there at least it did somewhat.
Perhaps SoBe will thrive now...we shall see. |

I don't see any striving in SoBe.
Last year so many parties got shut down because of noise, or TOO loud. Even the year before, best example the radio1 party @ Nikkie's..
Sad.. |

Hate to knock everyone down, but seriously i see what happended to LP this weekend as a precurser of things to come.Possibly meaning a shut down and or major club sting operation during WMC...
At not just Space, but every club in the DT area..People that work for the city talk alot though and arnt as active as they say sometimes say,so we,ll see what happens.
It just seems funny the timing and all..Seems to me like why not do this earlier and make the message felt earlier, seems like they are gearing up for something bigger.I mean they just walked up in Space and arrested our most prominant nightlife club owner a week before the biggest club week in the world.......

I think the timing is everything here. Ever since they broke ground on all those condos the issue of the noise of the downtown clubs has been coming up. The residents of these places must complain all the time. So why now? Simple, Miami doesnt want WMC. Every year about a month or two after conference there is some newspaper article or something about how the city is trying to stop WMC, and everyone freaks out.
If you are going to attack WMC, you have to strike at the venues for the events. The conference can be held anywhere, but people come for the clubs. Space and Nocturnal are the two biggest clubs downtown and shutting down aprox %25 of their available space is definitely going to hurt not only their reputation and appeal, but also their bottom line.
Not to mention the mess it will create for the clubbers. If you are basing the number of tickets you will sell based on the available capacity of the club and now your capacity is cut 25%, guess what? Thats about a thousand people standing inline who shouldnt be for hours and getting pissed about it. I'm sure the fire marshal will conveniently show up on friday and/or saturday night, just to make sure LP isn't going over the limit.
And of course lets not forget about the Sander Whores (myself included) who only want to see him in one place. If there is a place to see sander its early morning on the terrace.
Yeah, I'm pissed about it. It definitely makes me think twice about the $50 ticket i bought for friday night. Is it going to stop my from going? NO!!!
In fact, I have a plan: From now on, as we enter the downtown club district, lets fill our pockets with crack, meth, and smack. Then as you pass by all of those gazillion dollar high-rises, throw it up in the air and let it fall where it may. Lets make it rain drugs in downtown miami. Lets make it a paradise for every bum, junkie, crack-head, and speed-freak on the planet. Lets scare away all the yuppie pussies so that downtown can be what its supposed to be; a ty ass part of town that no one wants to live anywhere near so brave entrepreneurs like Mr. Luis Puig can operate their clubs however they want to with impunity (so long as they pay off the Miami PD). We can fight back, and use the bums as our infantry and drugs as our ammunition, WHOS WITH ME!?!?!?!? |

They will fine you for the violation, but will only arrest you for being a wiseass about it, which is probably what LP did. Although I do not blame him for being pissed about this, and he does not really take from people from what I have seen.
What next? Are all airline flights over these golden palaces going to be prohibited because the planes make too much noise? Will airline owners be fined and then arrested if they speak up?? Will they also shut down the expressway because the cars make too much noise? Will they shut down the AAA? Will they shut down Ultra? Will they shut down Bayside? Will they do all this to make these idiot condo owners happy? When these dumbs built the condos, and then more dumbs bought the condos, they all knew they were doing so right smack-dab in the middle of an entertainment district. So they have nothing to complain about other than their own stupidity.
Sort of like some going and building a condo in the middle of Iraq right now and then suing the US for making too much noise with the bombs or for leveling it. What did you expect?
And the timing of this right b4 WMC makes it so transparent. Cops got paid off by the condo owners plain and simple. |
For you kids still in school, maybe taking a Logic Class this is called a .......Slippery Slope Fallacy. |
