When I was in high school I was quite heavy and dropped about 35lbs after teaching myself weight lifting basics...I gained it back and then some in university, then lost 60lbs, now I've gained 10 back. My body seems to maintain itself at 150 without much effort, but without consistent strength training I can't seem to get below that.

I love lifting weights!

I weighed 143 pounds in November of '05... a year later I was up to 165 and I'm at 175 now. I'm 5'9 1/2.

I basically did it by training heavy weights 4 times a week and eating like a horse. I havent eaten any sort of fast food since Nov 05, I think my body fat is around 10%.

What I'd do is take 2 protein skakes a day of around 40g. Any more than that and your body can't process it, so you'll waste it. But if you want to gain weight you need to consume twice as much protein in grams as you weigh. (eg I weigh 175, I should consume 350 grams of protein a day) Don't forget the carbs though. You want your body to burn through those so it uses the protein. Only eating protein won't gain you weight after a while because your body is burning it instead of keeping it.

In between that I eat 5 small meals. I can't eat alot in one sitting but I have a fast metabolism so I get hungry again quickly. This is the best way to do it. Each week I try and add a little more food to the diet to gain although I've been slacking a little on that which I why I haven't gained.

In terms of a workout, I used to go 4 or 5 times a week now I'm down to 3 or 4 because I'm short on time. I take long breaks and do heavy weights to try and build mass. 5 minutes of cardio before the workout makes all the difference I find too.

Hope this helps anyone that'd trying to put some weight on... it worked for me :)

*paging Killah Monkey* lol :p

Damn, I guess I should come clean online now...kinda embarassing, actually. :nervous:

Weight: 235 lbs
BF%: 30.7%
Height: 5'11"

I'm srsly overweight and my target BF is 14% and 195 lbs. and I'm giving myself 6-9 months.

Just joined Extreme Fitness at Yonge & Sheppard 2 weeks ago and have been going every morning at 5 am, before work. I've never felt better (lol in recent memory), and so once I've adapted to the routine (increasing weights every day) I will go on to more functional training.

I have the best workout buddy in the whole wide world ;)

I'll update this thread on my progress! :toocool:

The last time I worked out was when I was carrying my ECO books up the library stairs. That was yesterday. I've been at this for only a week, but I gotta say, already I'm noticing some respectable gains.

I'm just a big guy (size 15 feet etc etc) anyhoo, I do a kind of circuit on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday. Arms/Chest one day, Shoulders/back the other. Sometimes free weights, sometimes machines. I've noticed a lot more muscle definition in the past 3 months. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, I spin. I've been spinning constantly for a year, and it;s dropped weight off the face. I realize now my eating habits have sucked donkey balls, so I've finally gotten my act together and changed them. I can't wait till the weather gets better so I can ride the bike to work, going up hill on yonge street is the ing bomb!

This all takes place at Goodlife yonge/st clair.

Did anyone do any HIT workouts or any Total Body Training Routines. Im looking at starting that out as some advocates say that it is alot more effective then split routines. Something like
mon/ full body
wed/ full body
fri/ full body

Anyone have any experiance with this type of training routine?

good stuff. Take measurements too, cause of course muscle weighs more than fat and lots of ppl go by the scale but that doesn't tell the whole story.

Skipper, you can get all the exercise you want by just dancing like a maniac behind the decks like Preach :p

Mind you, that doesn't work for Carl Cox, does it :p :stongue:
