marge, i have the same issues! i bulk up VERY easily. i just try to do a lower weight than what i'm capable of and do lots of reps. i also do yoga/pilates/balance ball stuff to stretch and hopefully develop long, lean muscle.
tonight is lifting night. :( nah, it's not that bad, but i'd rather be playing ultimate when it's so nice outside! :D |

yeah, pilates is pretty much my favorite type of working out but it wasn't working my heart enough obviously. and i find i get discouraged a lot with the more advanced stuff when i can't do it so i quit too easily. One day I will be pilates Queen!
And it is so nice outside here too! |

I just started a new routine yesterday... It's good cause I have been overtraining and spending WAY too long at the gym for a long time now. It was strange to be out of the gym in an hour yesterday, but I could definitely get used to it.
Now I have a 5-day split. 4-5 exercises a day, 3-4 sets and I only superset my arms. It should be a good week.
I was soooo excited to go to the gym yesterday after taking a week off, it was like I was going to see Erick Morillo or something...

I had my body fat tested today! I've converted 1% of muscle mass into fat in the last 18 months - yipee! :rolleyes:
Good motivation to get back at it consistently though... |

Gah... worked out with these muscles heads at the gym last week and toasted my shoulder...
Lesson learned. I have to start saying 'no thank you' to the big boys that want to train with me. I am such a sucker for a nice set of pecks tho :eek: |

| I have a good game for all you muscle heads and work out junkies. Taxas Holdem (poker), but instead of betting for money you bet for Pushups. So at the end of every hand the loser does the amount of pushups that they were raised. |

| Yo what are some good gyms in the downtown T.O area? My current membership runs out in August and I wanna switch to a gym that's more "on my way" and not all the way in Mississauga. |

I'm not really a gym person...fortunately my sis is a personal trainer and she made up an exercise routine I can do at home, all body weight stuff.
I started doing it back in November when I quit smoking, and to my surprise (I'm sooooo lazy, lol) I really enjoy it!
Been really busy with school these past months though, so I haven't been finding the time to do it. Hoping to start back up this week!
Plus now that the weather's getting nicer, I'm gonna start running on my off days. W00t!
Not really pumping iron, but w/e....physical fitness is good! |

there are lots...what is your ideal location? Do you take transit in and out of downtown, and along what routes? |

I was going to the gym 4-5 days a week, doing a muscle group each day (chest, back, arms, shoulders), as well as running. Lately I have only been running, around 20 miles (32K) a week. I've been doing this since Nov. of last year. I have lost only a few lbs (235 starting, now 225 I am 6'1"), I'm def. lookin better.
There is nothing better than listening to some good EDM while zonin' out on a jog.
Any other runners out there who use Nike +?? |
