I have a friend who is really a very good guy, but has a tendency to say some utterly horrible things. For instance, last week he made the claims:
1. Science has never comitted a massive atrocity.
2. Religion is responsible for far more evil and human suffering than it is for any good.
3. Any religious individual was solely religious because they feared their own death, and weren't intellectually advanced enough to cope with the biological and physical realities of existence.
This is a guy who has bachelors degrees in Biology, Physics, and German - and is heading to graduate school in the fall to study bioengineering.
When confronted with the prospect that scientists were responsible for horrendous experimentation on the Jews during WW2, his response was "That's not science. Nothing those individuals did is still used today, or has any scientific merit."
When asked about the excessive amount of charity work done in the name of religion, his response was "How does that compare to the Holocaust or the Crusades?"
And when he was finally forced to deal with the fact that many of the worlds most respected academic institutions (and in general, historical academic individuals) were highly religious, his response was "Every single person involved in those types of activities was simply smart enough to lie."

Eventually he was smart enough to see that his logic wasn't particularly flawless, and conceded that those were all pretty terrible claims that he hadn't really thought through in the least - but still, what the man?

i just went to get a burrito for lunch, and while i was standing in line about to place my order, this tall and sorta heavy-set dirty looking middle-aged dude comes up and stands literally 6 inches behind me. i quickly moved up and tried to regain my personal space, and turned around and gave him a dirty look. he did the same thing 5 min later when i was at the register paying for my food... and then when i went to the salsa bar he comes up and says all nonchalantly, "hey, how's it going?"
i said "uh, fantastic. bye!" and quickly walked out of there.
i'm 95% certain he was a rapist.

Really religious people who put on that cheesy "used car salesman" grin. Most religions have at least some of these types, as far as I can tell. Except maybe Islam:
