A Few things..
I WILL admit that his Nov 05 set was insanity..i told myself it was the last time i would listen to a big dj before my surgery in march and by FAR that has been one of the best sets i heard EVER..
but to say svd>pvd??
cmon Lis.. to each their own but does SvD have alot of the tools PVD has been able to gain over time? lets see.. Vandit, Vonyc, the #1 dj in the world 'label' since 2005?
dont get me wrong.. SVD is a GREAT producer and dj as well as person.. I met him at Nikki beach and he was too cool..realy nice guy..but if he stays around for another 10 years, starts a label, and gets some quality people behind him, and then gains number 1 status in the dj world.. then I would argue that SvD > PvD
:( anyone have the global dj set that PvD did this week? Armandi had one of her tracks played on there and i promised id send her a link to it..

PvD = DEAD
stop living in the past...he's not the same and won't be.
Last GREAT PvD nite = Nov 05 after he won #1 DJ for the FIRST time.
SvD > PvD ANY motherin' DAY!
PvD USED to bring it even if he "brings it" now, it usually ends or begins horribly
gimme a DJ that bangs from beginning to end
and SvD ladies & gents did just that...
Ask anyone who saw him SATURDAY & the funny is he only played for like 1 hour 45 min
from the first track to the last it was pure insanity |

anyways. blah blah blah.
SvD is great, yes we know that already by his productions and what not. But all of u SvD riders are forgetting that when he played last year there was a total of 7 ppl in the fuking club.
what happened to all of you last year??
It's fine for u to praise a dj.. But to compare him to another dj makes no sense to me.
Go on.. Feel free to praise SvD.. but WMC is the only time where u have to choose between who you want to see.
It wont happen for another year.
So all of u bashing pvd is for no reason.. AT ALL |

Wow this thread took a crazy direction, and everyone has their points.
Either way, I for one will continue to see and support PVD. He has always been and remains a true trance & EDM pioneer. Yes he has consistency issues, but to say he should not play @ Space anymore is pretty funny. Outside of WMC 2006 (bad set) and WMC 2007 (subpar set but nowhere near as bad as 2006) he has played very good the last 3 times there. Here is a recap of those performaces for those who have forgotten:
1) Mainroom November 2006 - 3 hours of madness, as near to perfection as you will get.
2) Terrace June 2006 - whoever said trance does not belong on the terrace swallowed their own on this night, because PVD owned everyone that had ever performed on that terrace b4 him or since.
3) November 2005 - PAM DJS anniversary party, probably his best set ever @ the new Space.
I will put those sets and nights up against anyone, anytime, anywhere.
And BTW PVD's 2003 and 2004 WMC sets @ Space were awesome, and 2005 was very good as well. (although Corsten closing owned him)
We were just spoiled with a bunch of trance DJs for WMC, so people are jumping on-and-off bandwagons faster than Dolphins and Marlins fans do on a yearly basis. But that is over now and trance variety will not exist in Miami (outside of locals) until next WMC. PVD may be the only outside act we get for a while (maybe Ferry Corsten too if there is a God). I think most people that have posted on here would probably at least consider seeing PVD (outside of DA) when he comes back. The reason is simple we all want him to be great again and know how awesome it is to be at a good PVD show, even if we do not all think he is always good anymore.
Lastly Twilo vs. Space is no comparison, Space has been around forever and is a jugernaut of nightlife, one of the best venues around. PVD belongs there. Yet Space has alienated many clubbers (not me though) and even some DJs. As for Twilo it is a very nice venue and was loved by almost all WMC partiers that visited it. My thinking on Twilo is that it is perfect for trance parties, the setup and lighting make it so. Even techno parties would be good there. They really need to start booking something different than gay nights Saturday and quasi-gay nights once a month with DT on Fridays. If they do not change it up they will not make it to next WMC. IMO a trance/techno monthly or bi-monthly would be good there or at least worth trying, with an occasional guest. |

I think u summed it up pretty GREAT!
-claps-
oh and +1 on the Ferry situation. WIthout a doubt he should be brought down more often. I have not seen him since Ultra 05! |

Wutz up Melly, you got outta here just in time. Finding trance in this city is like finding a needle in a haystack. While in New York you get to see Ferry soon (lucky girl). BTW everytime you post and I see his gig at the bottom I am like
Miami musically sucks badly. New York gets Ferry Corsten (and I think Scot Project was there Friday), while all we get here is "All Roads lead to Space" party every Saturday. Or as I like to call it "All Roads lead to a Disgrace." |

I've BEEN into SvD a lot longer than 2 years. Last year I went to see him when he was SUPPOSED to open for Blank & Jones....
I'm not riding his all of a sudden...I give PvD credit where its due & I said I'd go see him non-wmc and I'd even eat all my words if he wows me.
Fact is that SvD is good talent and so what if he's new...the kid has to start somewhere.
I'm not even gonna wait till next year to see him down here which is why I said I'd fly to catch him...that's how good he was to me.
& this year he didn't play for 17 ppl...he had a big crowd at the Fifth which was his nite ONLY and for it only being his second year during conference that's a pretty big thing.
I'm saying SvD is starting just like PvD did...if you were to listen to his set entirely it'd remind you exactly of PvD...
it's good to see that because that's what I miss about PvD.
I think Brent makes a good point in what he said.
Case in point, PvD isn't the same...weather a lot of you want to except that or not.
And with all that said, I'm still not anti-PvD to the point that I would boycott his shows.
All I said no to was WMC. |

not really svd doesn't have any albums yet and his productions doesn't inspire or influence anyone pretty much. |
