Not necessarily. Many suicides happen on an impulse, that's why people that are impulsive are more prone to commit suicide. He didn't necessarily planned it, maybe it just fit into what he felt. And as far as having no respect for people that commit suicide, more than 90% of people that do it have a mental disorder. Would you lose respect for someone who is sick? I mean seriously, you're saying it like their normal, mentally balanced people and that they are in complete control of their senses. Sadly that's not the case. |

except for the fact that all suicidal people are sick.
they all dont have mental illnesses.
John O'Callaghan is right. a good number of these people do it for attention. some people bring it upon themselves by refusing to accept treament sending them down a spiral and off a cliff. some people cut, burn themselves, all the same thing |

| You have respect for someone who selfishly takes their life away? He had friends, family and most importantly kids. If you feel the need to want to kill yourself that's a huge warning sign to get checked, get help, check yourself in. I don't know what it's like to want to kill yourself nor have I gone through any type of serious depression but I do know people who have and I know that they have all gotten themselves checked and are slowly but surely recovering. Don't say that someone who has no respect for someone who wants to commit suicide is ignorant. It's not that I don't not have respect for them, but I don't think very highly if at all of them. |

Suicide isn't any more selfish than buying a plasma screen TV while people in Africa drink lead and chemical filled water and shoot eachother over grains of cereal.
Actually, to some extent it's one of the least selfish things someone can do if they have their health, because it prevents them from ever getting a chronic disease and burdening the economy and their friends/family with themselves.
And some of you may have missed it, but: "Unfortunately Kevin had a very serious car accident in July 2006 and had never fully recovered back to full health." |
