DJ worship is wats wrong with the electronic music scene. People have stopped going to parties to party. Electronic music parties have become rock concerts and DJs have become rock stars. This is all well and good until you have the revelation that the guy up on the stage IS PLAYING RECORDS. Other people's music for the most part too. This is especially true when it comes to Digweed, a DJ who plays 'progressive' what does this 'progressive' mean anyway? progressive house? progressive trance, breaks, progressive R&B? when the did progressive become its own monolithic genre? And then this progressive DJ / inventor of this brand new progressive music goes and says like 'me and Sasha are paving the way for the future' Dear John Digweed, youre PLAYING RECORDS of other people's music, you self important, stuck up progressive slag. Its the people that produce the music you play that are paving the way for your future.
And people eat this up, thats what puzzles me, worship a dude for playing records. And they say like his work is like higher art, and requires you to really pay attention to appreciate it. I'm not going to a party to pay close attention and be educated and revel in the brilliance that Digweed has in playing other people's music. I'm going to enjoy the party. And in essence, a DJ's job is to make the party better with the music he or she plays, and Digweed fails at this job, because first of all the energy he brings is inappropriate for a party. He looks like he doesnt want to be there. And his style can be accurately described as purely pretentious. I saw him in Toronto 9 days ago and I was bored off my ass until a scuffle occurred with security because my buddy chucked a crumpled piece of paper at Digweed's head. |
lol, moron.
For starters, listen to Transitions 4. After that, revel in the fact that you are a moron. |

Have you ever even listened to the guy's radio show? He is always showcasing different producers and making sure they get credit for the awesome tunes they produce.
BTW - you paid a minimum of $30 to see S&D. You had to have known what they were about, who they were, and how they played. Why even bother going?
Digweed might be one of the least pretentious DJ's out there. He realises he is playing other people's records, and is very thankful that fans come out to hear him spin. Try reading or listening to an interview or two, he is quite humble. |

I don't want to alarm anyone...but by acting like a bunch of baby's over Mr. Angry's Comments does make you sound like a bunch of 'trance crackers.'That said, I gotta give Respect to Digweed even if he might not be my thing.
(I think that gives me an inferior musical mind according to this poll) ;) |

Ok. Wow. I am having a really difficult time coming up with the words to rebuttal these comments.
First and foremost, what is a party to you?
People who can’t go to appreciate the music that is being played is what’s wrong with the electronic music scene.

And where does that DJ get their music from to make that party better for you?
For the most part, with the exception of some of their own songs, it is usually other people’s music. Can you explain when this has changed over the years? How many DJs out there actually will play an entire set with all of their own productions? It may happen sometimes, but not very often. If there was not someone who was creating the music for the DJs to play, where would they be? If the DJ is spending all their time playing for the crowds, when will they have time to sit in a studio and produce all the tracks they need to for their sets.
As for Digweed failing to do his job, this is your opinion, but I will ask again, What does a party mean to you? John Digweed may not play the type and style of music that you enjoy listening to, and that is fair enough, everyone enjoys their own style of music. But to come right out and say that his music is pretentious, I don’t understand how this comment can be justified. If you didn’t like the party, leave. You knew John was playing, why did you come?

Complete disrespect.
And I’m not saying this because it’s Digweed and I am a fan, I would say this for any DJ, performer, or ANYONE for that matter that was doing the job that they were paid to do. |

What he said.
It's funny his favourite dj or producer is Luke Dzierzek. Since he doesn't dj worship, that eliminates favourite dj. That leaves producer. But, from his management group, Digweed is one of the djs playing his records. Without people like Diggers, and his radio show, Dzierzek would be another face in the crowd. Stop being pretentious. |

lol, Digweed is a HUGE supporter of Dzierzek. He is always dropping his stuff on his radio show. Dzierzek is easily one of Digweed's most played producers. lol! |

| The movie Groove, and Bedrock Records might be a good start since your boy has done remixes for Digweed's label. |
