I know what you mean... Back in 2005 when Armand van Helden was spinning @ Spirit, he went off really early, like a few minutes before 5am even though the party was supposed to go on for much longer. The crowd got so angry that I felt bad for him. Someone even yelled 'DJ broke his wrist!'. I never figured out exactly what happened, but before he shut the music off he was visibly arguing with some people in the booth, and as soon as the beats were off he stood up and powered out of the club. like that happens to DJs all the time... |

i think it's AWESOME that jp wrote this and i have a lot of respect for him. it's too bad other djs don't care so much about their fans.

and Brian, STFU about how he wrote that. he was obviously feeling emotional about the situation. i can certainly understand that since i went through the same thing as i wrote my letter to Sander last weekend. i was so overcome with anger and frustration that i had a hard time writing clearly.

seriously WTF is wrong with you people? here's a dj reaching out to his fans and communicating and you want to BASH him? no wonder the scene is ed up. you guys make me sick.
you know what i saw during WMC this year? a bunch of drug addicts who didn't even care about the music; all they cared about was getting some more pills.

I agree Bree, I am glad you said something.
I am not a huge JP fan but he took the time to address something that went wrong and the fact that he took the time to do it says all about him and how much he cares for his fans. To be honest that letter actually made me respect JP a little more. Maybe we don't like the crowd but all of us have liked at least one track he has produced or one set he has put on and I know there a number of people on this board that saw him at SF... I know I did and I don't regret it one bit.
STOP ALL THE HATING!!! This just makes the entire EDM scene look bad and I think we have enough to deal with with the cops and drugs and everything else that there is no need to turn on each other and the DJ's that are trying to create this scene for us. |

thank god SOMEONE hasn't lost their mind! glad you agree and i feel the same way as you about JP. not my style of music or my crowd, but i have respect for him. i've also realized that in light of the response to jp's msg on this board, i shouldn't be surprised when no one respects OUR crew or OUR scene. :( |
