By that, I meant "here comes Lisa totally about to derail this thread from what the actual topic is"...
(Which just to re-iterate is about the geographical location of the shelter, not about the municipal welfare state) |
oh, my mistake. |

I actually was asked by a police officer if i had been smoking the wacky tabacky while being pulled over on the 401 one time, and i'm not going to lie it took restraint to not laugh at him. |

| During a newscast, Councillor Vaughn said (and I paraphrase) that he hopes all the nightclubs close down. Shows you why he wants to put a shelter at this location. Obviously he's got it in for the entertainment district. |

you represent an ENTIRE ward/area...not just the people and business who YOU like.
if that's truly his attitude, he shouldn't be in office.
$100 says he has no logical argument for wanting them all to shut down. It appears to be blatant, illogical personal bias, and that has no place in city planning.
I wish someone could provide an estimate on the tax revenue generated on a weekly basis by the businesses in the club/entertainment district (and the spinoffs for restaurants, hotels, etc. in the area).
That should cause people like Vaughn to STFU. |

Like I said earlier, TO is slowly starving to death, and this guy wants to shut down one of the few revenue streams that isn't going to fluctuate that greatly (ie: real estate).
Here's a thought, extend last call to 5am and see how much money yu make. Now you don't have to place levys on alcohol and tobacco. |

That's a nice thought Mark, but that's precisely how the city planning has been done in Toronto for the past 30 years. |

| Well its no secret that Adam Vaughan hates clubs and would like to see all of them gone. He's pushing for more condos in the downtown core and is asking developers to build more 3-bedroom units to attract families. Somehow I don't see clubs fitting into his plan. |
