its gonna be $50 to see AVB in Ottawa in a couple of weeks. $60 at the door, for probably a 2 hr set. :nervous: |

well...my first venture back into Guv since sometime last summer, I think.
I was shocked...in a good way, for the most part.
The place wasn't uncomfortably rammed, the crowd seemed pretty cool and the vibe was indeed more of an old-school one...it was really refreshing to feel that in Guv again.
KH was literally near-empty when we arrived, so we checked out Howells in the main room...good start to the night as it wasn't too loud or bangin'...made it easy to say hi to a bunch of people. But...I found him a wee bit boring and headed off to Gallery to begin the breaks extravanganza :)
caught the end of someone's set...pretty sure it wasRed Turtle...if so, that was only my 2nd time hearing him...first would have been at a Tribe BBQ last summer on the Island? fun stuff...really got me in the mood.
Then it was time for the man himself...the reason I went to Decadence (sorry, Moby)...DJ Icey (see avatar, lol). I planted myself front and center for his set and soaked up every minute of it. Cool, friendly group of people up front too. I intended to leave for a bit to catch some of Moby, but the breaks were tooooooooo good!
Myagi followed and kept up the energy...another DJ who clearly enjoys what they're doing...I find honest/real DJ enthusiasm to be infectuous for the crowd. I didn't want to move, but needed a breather and wandered to KH to find friends.
wow...the music was *WAY* too loud in there...at least towards the back. Junkie XL was on, but the sound was ing awful...I couldn't take it and headed back alone to Gallery for the rest of Myagi's set. Slipped down the stairs on the way in, scraped and bruised my arm and wrist pretty good, "lucky there was only 3 steps" says a guy in front of me, lol...didn't notice that my watch fell off from the slip fall until getting home :( More good tunes...then took off as Myagi was nearing the end of his set.
I was pessimistic about breaks moving to Gallery from the Orange Room...but it was perfect...a very good night, minimal sketch, great tunes, good crowd.
nevermind that a legend in Moby was there, I'd happily pay $55 for 4 hours of Icey and Myagi again, anytime.
nice to see RJ, Margaret, Ben, Graham, Rachel, Stephen, Frank...sorry if I'm forgetting a few...good times! |

im really glad to hear moby ripped it apart, just as expected
its a damn shame i couldnt hear him spin, he's someone i would really feel lucky to witness live....i really hope they recorded his set?? |

| an awesome fkn time !!! glad to see so many ol faces out.. was very different from last years decadence thats for sure.. wasnt that packed enough room to dance.. orange room too rammed.. lol... the drink was on fkn fire last nightttttt!!.. greg gow and the boys started out the main room and drink very nicely.. howells was awesome.. but mistrkft blew the roof off and tommie sunshine wowsers... the donald and moby had the crowd movin and marko was playn some good choons.. the koolhaus was movin.. dubfire was great this morinin...overall no complains.. |
