k, just woke up... what did I miss?

j/k Moby delivered. I totally died when he player Raining Again.

Off to the 'rents for Easter. Back Sunday night.

oh, finally met EnglishRachel, Lightshow, riskytrader, and a few others, but I have to mention I believe I freaked trance-ultima out, as I really believe I freaked her out when I introduced myself. That bug-eyed look was unforgettable. Probably thought I was one sketchy-fcuk stalkler or something. I run into her randomly in 3 other rooms, and I could only imagine she thought I was this crazy stalker from a horror film. I'm harmless Jessica! Nice meeting you, really :)

The Night

Happy 2 year anniversary to me! :) This was my 3rd decadence and the beginning of my next year of partying. I'd like to say I had a great time, and I did. Everything was in accordance, and expectations were surpassed on some levels. Cover was steep, but getting tickets online saved us a few dollars. Kelly and I w/ crew arrived before 11 to see two lineups. The guest list line was short but was moving at a very slow pace (Jason said he hadn't moved from the same spot in 30 minutes.) We decided to wait in the ticket line and it surprisingly moved really quickly. It wasn't more than 15 minutes, unless the time flew by. Got in through the Guv main room and stayed there. Decorations were lovely; lots of small disco balls made me happy. The black and white feathered scarfs bunched up were cool as well, but it got really annoying when they became accessories for sketch bags (I'm just envious because I never got one...and I do love to dress up.. haha.) Each room had the same decoration scheme going on, nothing out of the ordinary.

Best aspect of the night would have to be how empty the main room was. Not just at the beginning, but the whole night had plenty of room waiting for us to rock it out properly. Thank you for staying home. :disbelief. I heard that a lot of people did not gain admittance into The Guvernment. Apparently they weren't accepting printed tickets, unless the card holder was with you. WTF! So if I decided to use my father's credit card and not my Kelly's, I wouldn't be able to get in, unless my father was with me? ing retarded! I've never heard such garbage...a new low for the Guv.. Anyway... alot of dancing took place, but The Drink and Orange Room were pretty hot and crowded for most of the night. Kelly and I managed to stick around until the very end, which was shortly before 9 am. I slept all friday until this morning, and I woke up with my foot in a much worse shape. The pain went away all throughout all the dancing I did, but now my whole foot is swolen! Awesome! That's what I get for being so stubborn. Everything was great, but I felt something was missing..not the tunes though.

The Music

The music was on par. I mean the $40 I paid was well worth the sets I experienced. I caught the last 30 minutes of The Roaches while I made my rounds. Danced on a podium for a bit with Kelly :). Nathan is never a disappointment behind the decks. Heard some good minimal that got me smiling.

Danny Howells came on at 12 and I had high hopes that it would be an on night for him. His essential mix was a masterpiece. His set... was even better! Mixing was good, not a surprise, but even when he took a break to go to the washroom. lol. This guy is a clown behind the decks! I giggled many times just watching him live. Facial expressions, the outfit he wore (HILARIOUS), and his dancing was all very entertaining to watch. Now back to his set... I was speechless. It was groovy and funky, warm progressive, that soothed my body and got me shaking slowly. It wasn't too monotone, still danceable. I IDed a bunch of memorable ones, but I can't recall any of them...except for these two that got me screaming and going nuts:

MK Ultra Project - Gamma Radio (16 Bit Lolitas Mix)
Sebastien Leger - Cosmonite
Nathan Fake - Outhouse (? Remix)
Sander Van Doorn - Grasshopper

As the rest come back to me I will update this list. Unfortunately around 2 am, Howells was starting to lose me. It was getting a bit repetitive and deep, which would have made sense if he was closing the night. I decided to bail at around 2:30 so my mood wouldn't change.

Walked into the drink, just in time to see my favourite homeless looking duo. They're too cool for vowels and they aren't afraid to hit you with weird tracks: MSTRKRFT! I felt like they were playing to my entrance because as soon as was walking in they played

MSTRKRFT - Easy Love.

Cribby's coming...ok, let's play this! lol. It's my favourite song of theirs and as packed as it was, I merrily jumped to the beat while walking to find a safe spot. There were no safe spots, except for the area beside the washroom...which smelled like farts. Actually that smell was in presence the whole night. I wasn't surprised to see Frank shortly after each time. LOL! Don't worry CuZo, the ones in the Orange Room were allll mine! ;) *ahem* So basically it was the same set as the one they played at TIL, except different programming. No complaints, it was their typical real electro sound mixed in a with some wavy mac and cheese tech house! They played

Tiga - Move My Body

too. Lots of energy, lots of fun. Must say I'm not a fan of the new Drink look...but w/e. Couldn't handle it anymore and I was pleased with their set, so I maniacally ran to the Orange Room a few minutes before 4 am to catch my master.

OH MY GLAUDE!!! Oh how awesome it was to catch the People's Malboro by himself this time.. I was pretty impressed with his mixing this time. It wasn't sloppy at all. Wasn't a huge fan of the track selection; they were too average and expected. Regardless he got me dancing, but not for long. I had to take a break after an hour due to the amount of heat in there. I came back around 6 am when Glaude started to kill it. Apparently I missed A Bit Patchy (!) but hearing some harder stuff, including acid, made up for it. Once again another screaming competition took place. I managed to scream lots of different sentences...even when his set was done and it was quiet..

List of Screamed Sentences
- OH MY GLAUDE!!
- Oh ing Yea!!!
- FUMASA!!!!
- Catia!!
- Ehhhh Deficiente!!!
- The People's Malboro!!!
- Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
- Yea Nigga!!!!!
- FRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

There were probably more, but that's enough for now bwahahaha. Love his energy and antics. Next time I need to get him a dirty clown shirt :) Not his best set but definately not disappointing. Managed to catch it til the end from 6, which he stopped around 7.

I managed to check out Dubfire at two different intervals. I can't comment on his set as a whole, but I certainly did not understand the journey of his set. Whatever story he was telling just didn't make sense. He must of had his chapters mixed up. As I made it to the main room at 5 am he was playing some clickity clackity stuff. Some good minimalistic tracks being dropped, which I totally adored... some good banging tech stuff too, but way out of place! Mixing was expected...anyone who says it was lacking was clearly hearing something else. Like I mentioned, it was the flow that was off. Most of it was deep and a bit dark, too deep for a party. Satoshi Tomiie pulled it off for me in October, but Dubfire just didn't know when to turn it up. I played the waiting game for too long and left at 6.

I came back at 7 and was surprised to see a lack of TAs present. Dubfire was still telling that same story..which had me resting for a bit. Thankfully at 7:30 he started randomly dropping some older and groovier tracks in the mix. Got me up dancing again. Heard some gems, but their shininess was dulled off by the before and after tracks. As he was closing his set from 8:30 onwards it was good progressive, but I just wish his set was more consistent.

You can't just tell a story about an old woman's last dying days and randomly have the Artist Formerly Known As Prince pay her a visit at the park.. LOL. I will explain: There was one track Dubfire played that made tune of the night for me! It was a really funky 80's sounding track similar to stuff that Demi would play. It had vocals similar to Prince's and in the chorus after the funky beat it would say "Touch your " in a fast choral voice. ROFL! Such a hilarious but delicious track. I thought of Prince...but perhaps the lyrics were saying something else. I need an ID to this track!

Unknown Artist - Touch Your (?)

I was expecting something more but ah well. Some delicious tunes by Dubfire:

Scratch Massive - Shining In My Vein (Manthraxx Mix)
Minilogue - Seconds (Moonbeam Remix)
Mike Sheridan - Alt And Intet

Conclusion

Overall, really good Decadence! Good tunes, lots of space. Still not sure what was missing, but part of it would include missing a few of my favourite people. It was awesome to party with everyone...even though I only managed to see a lot of you for no more than 5 minutes. Once again, some people managed to surprise me (I love you.) Met a few new faces, forgot your TA names...but they approached me after recognizing my moves from the Cribby Claw video. Pffffft!

Kelly really enjoyed herself too. She managed to make it until the end completely sober after her first real Guv experience. I need a break though. :)

Were you actually there, or are you just pulling this assumption out of your ass?

I did my homework, and was quite disappointed. What say you to that?

tobywan
still too lazy to post a proper review, but overall I was really pleased to see it NOT packed, so making a 5 minute trek around the venue to check out was a reasonable option.

Ah, gotta love it when someone tells you that your opinion is wrong, lol.
