Messed up situation...

So, someone close to me is threatening to commit suicide. They are an EXTREMELY selfish person and continue to tell me that if they went through with it, it would be MY FAULT.
Obviously, it wouldn't ing be my fault, because if one actually carries it out, they are pretty ed up to begin with.
However, I can't help but let it mess with my mind a little bit. I know people that talk about it, RARELY carry it out and it's all an attention ploy. I still can't shake this uncomfortable feeling that what if they actually did it?...How could I live with myself thinking I could have done more to help them?
I expect some of you to reply like idiots...but if some of you could actually take this serious, I'd really appreciate any advice.
Thanks. |

anf? :conf:
seriously all you can do is recommend they see a doctor or notify their guardian. its kinda like trying to help an alcoholic only if they're willing to admit they have a problem and are willing to get help... Intervention or accompany them to the doctors thats all you can do. |

| they are not your friend. Get over them. |

spend as much time with them as you can
two reasons: 1, no one's gonna do it with someone right there, they'd do it alone
2, chances are they feel neglected or something of the sort, and being around a friend would definitely help. they might not seem like they're in a great mood, but its an improvement
also, DONT try to just fix everything all in one go or anything, don't expect them to be in a good mood. regardless of what they do, don't get angry with them or do anything to fuel it. may require a bit of acting and dishonesty, but its worth it to save a life
best of luck :( |

Let their parents know.
If they get mad at you, reply "You said it would be my fault, so I went and tried to help you... now THIS is your fault."
I know it sucks to "rat" on them, but if they are crying wolf like this, they need help, and you really don't need it to be on your shoulders if they DID follow through. |

| tell somebody else who's close to the person, get the person to a hospital, end of story. It's not your fault, it's a cry for attention, whoever it is is just being obnoxious and in a very immature way, and you shouldn't have anything to do with whoever it is anymore. |

depends on the parents
some parents would take it personally and get angry with their child, making it worse, but some would do everything in their power to honestly make it better
idk which it is, but keep that in mind |

| I have done all the things mentioned above. I should have included in my first post that this is NOT the first time they have threatened this. However, each time they say this kind of , it still hurts as much. |

I really hope this isn't Aureus - and if it is, honestly, you just have to cut him off.
Not fair for you to have to worry about such things, and not good for him because he needs to get over it.
But perhaps I'm assuming too much - regardless, whoever it is, isn't really your friend.
Edit: It's not the first time this has happened? :wtf: :conf:
Tell 'em to right off, and call whoever it is a twat when you do it. Selfish ing prick. |
