No, he's just calling you on commenting on things that really you don't know much about (from a personal relation perspective). |
That's a good point, because I don't know any public figures personally, yet I still comment on them based on public knowledge and mass media's representation. How dare me! |

Just keep in mind that oil was at ~$20/barrel when Yeltsin was President, and it's now ~$60/barrel with Putin in power. |
You're putting the price of oil solely on Putin's head?

dictatorship accusations thrown around by western observers aside (besides I really think all those critics should stfu and stop trying to tell Russia what to do), I think Putin has been a good president for the past number of years
Yeltcin was just too much of an embarrassment, I mean what kind of president is a chronic drunk? current Ukrainian one is no better either, such a tool :( |
Fully agree. Russia needs a strong leader, and Putin is the best one we've had for a while. |

Ok, Mister "literal"...
The mass media's representation (of things) is usually a pretty naive perspective but at least you admit that is where gathered your views/comments on Yeltsin (which is respectful). |

So the media is talking out of their ass with allegations? (admittly not proven, but IMO something is wrong about how Putin deals with dissenters)
Given how much the media loves to blow up a controversy more than it is, but still, something is just not right about Putin.

If you expect perfection out of politicians... well, LOL. Good luck finding one!
Though I do expect personal problems like being a drunk to be private, not blown up in public. |

Ho! Ho! HO!
Lets speak another language so (most) people don't know what we're saying to each other.
Some have said that using language in that manner is akin to being a poltroon... |

international press is surely talking out of their asses with 90% of their so-called allegations
what I've observed, read and watched, as well as I have heard from a good number of friends who live all around Russia, the situation back there, politically, socially and economically has been consistently better then it ever been, post-USSR
and lol Yohan, if you think that a public figure of such status can even think to behave like Yeltsin did, well then I'm not surprised U.S. has a monkey for a president |

I guess I'm naive...*sigh*
And Monish was saying that people with different backgrounds have different perspectives; another obvious comment to add to the growing list in this thread. |
