Yelstin was a puppet that was controlled by a group of scumbags who robbed the government and brought the country into the ground. These same scumbags wanted Putin to take over and of course get things in return but once Putin got to power he instead brought them all to justice and put some of them to jail. Some of them are still out there, like Berezovsky who fled to Britain.
There is a great documentary on this subject that is shown on TVO (my fave channel) once in a while. It is really great and it explains exactly what happened in this period of time in Russia 1991-2003. It is called "The Rise and Fall of the Russian Oligarchs" and it consists of 2 parts
i was able to find part 2 on google video but unfortunately part 1 seems to be not available. If you google the name you will able to find a torrent for it.. i higly reccomend watching this if you are interested in this subject

Cool, I will watch it. I fully trust Canadian broadcast journalism, like I trust the BBC. Just never read/heard about the merits of Putin. |

i dont think its made by Canadians, i think its a British documentary, i'm not sure though
this video is very accurate and describes all details that lead to the governments collapse until Putin's takeover. |

Exactly, and if it takes a few backhanded or "undemocratic" tactics for Putin to clean up our government, then he has my full support. Democracy doesn't always work (especially in places like post-imperial Russia), and dictatorship isn't always bad. Especially if the dictator cares a lot about his country's well-being. You guys can argue to me about the merits of democracy over dictatorship, but I'd rather have a dictator that does something right instead of a democratically-elected president that does nothing at all save for drinking. |
