Imagine a dollar costing 5000 rubles and then a week later a dollar is 30000 rubles, banks refusing to give you YOUR money because all the banks went bankrupt, the only bank that survived was the Main Moscow government funded bank, interesting eh? so what do you have left? ing nothing, a flat, clothes and furniture lol, yeah A LOT of money....

This happened in 1998 right before we immigrated to canada so we lost a lot as you can see by the numbers.

Ps. ever heard of Abramovich? Chealsea owner.. yeah he was one of those s who robbed the country and took off.. he's a billionaire now, i wonder where he got the money from

wow. guess who feels like a jackass now! :clown: Sorry to hear about your personal experience, man, that would absolutely suck. He seems like a total douchebag now.

ps. now that I think of my original comments, I don't think I was praising him but rather finding him charming. His public image (in the west) was pretty unique for the leader of a country, in more of a "laughing-at" way than a "whoa what a great leader" way. It's like reading about his antics in the paper and thinking, "haha what's that crazy Russian up to today?"

Haven't seen that vid yet but will definitely do so this w/e.

too bad that this was a wide spread effect. 1000s of people lost their money. not to mention all the old people who died because they werent getting their pentions. and all the others that died because of the mob warlike state that the country was in after the break up.

thats why my parents moved in 1993, when all this was going on.

it was millions of people not 1000's, moscow suffered the least, i don't even want to think about those asian regions, they were pretty much starving to death, those with farms survived with what they've grown on their own. Banks did not give pension to elderly at the time for months, even workers would not recieve any pay for months even YEARS!
