well...after taking a stroll from chemistry class to kill some time before my next lecture, i came across a large sign saying something like "read the bible!" i walked over to see a young man (probably 24) shouting over a crowd illustrating a point that we are all sinners and we need to be saved.
some memorable quotes from the speakers...
"homosexuality is a sin"
"women need to submit to men"
"if you drink, you are a slave to alcohol"
it was rather nuts. i think the two speakers were brave to talk about such issues in front of college students (they each talked on their own), but the points never really got across to either side. the speaker would respond to questions/yelling and students would respond to the speaker in disbelief and sometimes anger. things that went down (when i was there):
1) a lot shouting and yelling on both sides of the issue
2) someone ripping up a bible
3) someone passing around and yelling about free condoms
4) someone making a satan circle out of sticks in front of the speaker
5) random students yelling about masturbation and xbox
first off, i though it was highly disrespectful of someone to rip up a bible, ffs. eventhough i didn't agree with a lot of the stuff the speakers were saying, some of the students were being pretty ignorant and obnoxious. it was a bit entertaining, however. it was very interesting that when someone asked repeatedly "if we are all sinners, then why aren't YOU a sinner?", there was no reply.
i think the reason why the bible people came was because "sex on the lawn" was occuring at campus today... (they were handing out condoms and penis balloons, etc). i have some vids and pics but you can't really hear much significant stuff.
have any of you guys encountered a situation like this before at a campus?
COR VERSION: there was a "rally-type" of event that occured today on campus. there were two speakers that were talking about converting and how wrapped up in sin we all are. there was lots of yelling from the students and one of the speakers... no points really got across each side. question: have you guys experienced a rally like this on campus? |

oh man...it was in front of the library...kind of across the campus center. when i first got there, it was 12:30... one of them was talking for an hour and when i left, there was another guy talking. i left around 2:25ish.... |

I'm a slave to alcohol.
There was a guy who came to out school and did the same thing. Was entertaining to watch him for the amount of time he was actually there prior to being escorted off property.
After he was done, I realized I was just one huge walking sin. |

yeah...i was standing in the front and some guy jsut walksin front of me, gets some sticks makes a satan circle in the front. he walks away and then comes back 10 minutes later putting dandelions in the circle, lol.
