they now hide the paper bags because they must cost more. you have to know enough to ask for them. I try to get one once in a while because i use them to put my paper in it for recycling. if you don't the recycling Nazis won't take it.

depends on the store. we only use paper bags on base at the commisary....but the local Kroger only uses plastic (they don't even have paper).

the baggers at Pick N Save always get really bitchy when i ask them to double-bag my groceries, like i'm making their job 100 times harder by asking them to do that. you should have seen the kids face when i asked him to put my items in a paper bag inside of a plastic bag so that it'd be easier for me to carry... lol.

that's why i love Trader Joe's. they only have paper bags, and they're so nice and awesome about bagging your groceries.

And they give you a box when you buy a lot of wine!

I think that's just you :nervous:

Here are a few of my observations:

fat ppl: soda, chips, ice cream

black ppl: meat, meat, and meat (sorry Andrea it's true)

old ppl: coupons, canned fruit, beans, and soup.

single guys: frozen dinners, beer, hamburger, ramen noodles, mac & cheese

latin: meat, rice, beans (repeat)

kid nyce
damn suburbanites lol

i dont even care to pass judgement on people at the supermarket, let alone look to see what they are buying lol...im too busy calculating how much my stuff cost and listening to my music, planning my dinner, what to eat for lunch, how much money i need for the week, what my other plans are for the week...i wouldn't think about shedding a braincell on inspecting a persons food choices then hold a judgement on their eating habits...

i dunno, seems kinda pointless to me...

but what I do look for is to see how much people have infront of me this way i can pick the line with people holding the less amount of stuff which would get me to the register faster so i can get the out of there faster!

we're trying to get awya from double bagging groceries, just to cut down on the amount of them being used. but yeah, some people are just plain pissy about doing their job sometimes.

on base (at the commisary), there's a tip jar at every checkout line. and there are signs that say something to the extent of "baggers only work for tips" or something.

i hate doing it....mainly because growing up, and my parents going to Cub Foods, *I* had to bag their groceries (cubs didn't have baggers at the time). and i know how EASY of a job it is. so for my to give someone even a $1 for bagging like 5 items, it just feels wrong.

but one time i didn't do this (when i was in alabama) and the bagger chewed me out! he was like, "we only work for tips you know!" and said sometihng else too....it was the first time i had ever been on an AF base's grocery store, so i had no clue wtf was the deal, until i saw the signs afterwards. anyways, i was like, "yeah, ok" and walked away.
