pack your own stuff, you bunch of lazies. the only time someone else than the buyer is packing groceries here, is if a football team wants to go to legoland or ride horses, and try to earn a few coins. i don't want some football kid touching my apples.

that perhaps, and also technology. my ma is totally afraid that if she swipes a debit card that someone's going to steal her identity.

that or she'll forget to write it in your checkbook and so the balance will be off.

Seriously. You're all so lazy.

We HAVE to pack our own here ( minus 1 or 2 places ). No one is at the end to pack it. Plus, I'd rather pack my own that way I dont have the static cling sheets in with my food and/or any cleaning product with food. Or that my bags are not so heavy so I can actually carry them.

I get my groceries in the middle of the night precisely so there isn't anyone in front of me in line so that I need not wait and occupy my time with such pointless activities.

in a, we used to have a 24-hour stop&shop, and then randomly a few months ago it switched so its open till 10 monday-thursday and till midnight friday-sunday
ing lame!

The person in front of me had coupons and I accurately guessed that she was a Russian Jew.

It's not laziness! We have an expectation that our groceries will be nicely placed in bags (or double-bagged for lucid) - and it's not like the store doesn't include that cost when they come up with their $4.39 price for 1/2 gallon of milk.

there's a discount place that offers low prices but if you want bags you need to pay for them. they also leave their empty boxes used to ship the produce, out front so you can put your groceries in them. its a little low class for most ppl but i like how its more environmentally friendly. when you offer things "free" like bags ppl have a tendency to waste. so yeah you do pay for bags one way or another.

i guess the way of life is different, just know that there is one thing...you cant take the new york out of me

my apartment doesn't have a garbage pale, i just hang plastic bags from my kitchen cabinet knobs and dump garbage in there as needed..i should really do something about that huh lol

it's a huge and rough (yet real) city filled with crazy drivers, too many tall buildings, lots of stress and public transportation. it's a very intimidating city and having visited there and seen what it's like, i have a certain amount of automatic respect for new yorkers.

and i must admit, when i had that whole road rage thing happen to me a few weeks ago (that who pinned me between his car and mine) and i told sash about it and his response was, "heh, so what? that happens here every day, you'll live". i was like, :( thinkin, "i wanna be a badass new yorker too"

I think all of our grocery stores are like that. Id rather bag my own anyway. Dominion and Loblaws, which are our wto most expensive chains of grocery stores are even self bag. If you don't bring your own bags then they are 10 cents/bag.

lol! When I still lived in Brooklyn, there was this Russian Jewish lady with a nice fur coat using food stamps to buy a carton of ice cream.

after living for years in nyc, there isn't much that will surprise new yorkers. they (we) become desensitized to the craziness. it's like watching so many episodes of south park that you no longer get shocked by the absurdity. it took me a few years to not lock my car door after getting into a car. :stongue:
