whats great about serato is this:
i got to a club last nite, they dint have turntables, only 3 cdj 1000s, so i used them.
i got to a loft party last week they had techs and some crappy numark duals, used the techs
serato give you the freedom to chose and not to get stuck, cdjs or decks or both
but cds are better with cdjs than serato is, bar-none |

| yeh i think its stupid to use serato with cdjs, just play an mp3 dvd if you need alot of music without going back and grabbing more. Serato is stricktly to be used with tables imo. thats what i do lot of times, i burn two copies of all my music into separate dvds (cuz they dont all fit in one duh:D ) and then thats all i need and i also print out like 20 pages with with all my music for reference. |

I think what people find odd is not so much the use of Serato with CDJs but more the fact that he could have used it with his TTs and saved all that money from the CDJs. No? |
Yeah, that's what I meant in my first post. :p |

man i dont understand how its possible to use cdjs to this. how the hell to connect etc? can someone explain? i have cdj800 and im sick of burning out the mp3s on cds, any advice? |
Basically, there are now a few software programs out there like Serato, Torq, PCDJ, Traktor Skratch, etc that have control cds and/or vinyls that you pop into a cdj or put on a TT and it syncs your mp3s with the movement of the real physical platter. Do some searches for the programs above and you'll get opinions on them. |

yes, they play mp3s. but not dvds with mp3s. only cds with mp3s. unless i'm completely mistaken, which i don't think i am. ;) |

I use torq with CDJs. I just find that going to clubs and ripping out of the technics attached to a DJ mixer is usually a lot harder (and sometimes impossible) than just popping off the RCA connects on the back of CDJs which are usually, without exception, exposed.
Plus, the control CDs aren't dependent on good needles etc. to work well, just a pure digital signal, so less set up hassle and less to worry about going wrong.
I prefer the CDJ experience over the control vinyl experience.

Agreed, and for me, I found I was having to sort of pre plan a mix according to what I've burned or will be burning, and then I have to make copies of each. Call me lazy too, but I wasn't willing to spend all that time doing that. |
Haha, I was also doing that about a year ago. I finally had enough and bought Serato.

Yup, song selection is a much more fluid process now. |

serato and cdj's is faaaarr superior to cd's and cdj's! are you kidding? you can play a whole music library w/ the cdj's w/ out changing cd's, its organized, you dont have to burn cd's, etc... omg serato is the bomb w/ cdj's!
hmmm... i want to play good for me by above and beyond. (types good for me in search engine, clicks, and drags) done!
let me see... i'm in f minor and want to move to c minor (filters accoring to "comment" which he has the keys typed in, picks a track, clicks, and drags) done!
what's that? you want to hear gamemaster by lost tribe? (types, clicks, and drags) done in seconds!
i dont know how you could possibly say having serato and cdj's is pointless, inefficient, or whatever... are you serious?
serato + cdj's = the bomb
cd's + cdj's = save 500 bucks and buy serato |
